WOW ! . . .

That's what a flashy guitar should look like.

I think I remember seeing a thread where this was being built - are you responsible for this Mark ?

If so, well done !

(How does it play and sound ? )

Guilty, it's my first "beyond partscaster" build. As you might expect, it has three basic sounds, from the Dot bridge, the Dano lipsticks and the Artcore neck pup. I split the coils on the buckers, and "buckered the Danos, so there's a total of six sounds. I ran the three singlecoil modes into the input lugs on the first 5-position switch. Then I attached the split lugs to the input side of the second switch. The first switch is grounded; the second is not. The two switches are connected also at the center output lug. That lug then is wired to the first vol pot. The next two outputs go to the second and third vol pots. I also have a selection of 22 or 47 tone caps, selected by the three position toggle. It has basically 25 combinations of sound, lots of pop, quack and twang, and lots of growl and roar as well. It has some exceptionally clean sounds, almost folk guitarish. The neck is an old Sekova folk guitar piece, wide chunky and flat with good action. I'll get up some sound clips of this thing in a bit.

Don't take this the wrong the way, because I mean it with great admiration...

The Exploder is like when Homer Simpson designed a car for Detroit.

I dig it.

Lol! I deliberately built the thing to be complicated. I wanted a lot of tonal choices, and I wanted it to be semi hollowbodied with a Floyd Rose. I love the fine tuning and the retention of the Speedloader; I've never had one before. I like to think that my Exploder is prettier than Homer's car tho.

Interesting . . but . . is it useful?

I once had a Strat, that i modified with a Humbucker in the middle, a six position rotary switch and three cap-switches (one for each pickup).
So i had series parallel with and without caps . . all in all somewhat like 93 possibilities!
Some of the sounds were really good but it took me about 20 seconds to switch from one preset to another . . :-(

Sold it.

ROTFLMAO!!! That POwell Motors 'Homer' model reference is just quality! LOL. I love it.

Very interesting guitar. Cover it in rhinestones or sparkles!! It's so over-the-top, it's crazy! SWEET!

I think so-any time I don't have to switch guitars for a different sound is a good thing, and this will do that. Plus I want to expand my trem abilities, and although I have a couple of Strats with trems, they just don't hold tune like a Floyd will. Switching with this takes 2 seconds, tops. Yeah, it's useful, plus I learned a lot building it.

You need some sort of ridiculous overkill-looking amp to go with it. And a strap that is over-the-top. I really dig that guitar, but I think it needs to be accessorized and celebrated for its kitchen-sink spirit!

I've got a Marshall 100MG, an old Carvin 100w tube/solid state, and my Brown Deluxe. It sounds absolutely killer thru the Deluxe, but I don't think I'm going to be changing the looks of the Deluxe. As for a strap-I'm open to suggestions, but it needs to be padded and fairly rugged. This thing weighs in at around 10lbs.

It is quite possibly the craziest guitar I have ever seen, save for that cartoon one someone made of a Tele. (You know, with the 5 pickups, neon green?)

But this one goes down as ridiculously cool in my book.

It screams for a 4" wide black leather with spikes on it. Stack all amps on top of each other, and run them all at once. It needs "Smoke on the Water" to be played over and over.

I also think that, from a practical standpoint, you should add a master volume to go with the individual volumes. Maybe even with a buffered preamp. And a built-in chorus. And a flanger. And a....

!!! I have an idear. For the master volume knob, seek out one of the vintage Peavy mixers with the giant knobs, remove it, and stick that knob on the MV. Place it directly behind the Floyd Rose

I gotta say that is the most schizoid looking thing I have ever seen in a long while. Yet somehow, it makes me smile

Ya know, there is a certain '70s vibe to it...Maybe the strap should be roll and tuck a'la my Kustom cabs. In red sparkle...

That guitar is way cool! I have weird taste in guitars though. Definitely needs the wide black leather strap with spikes.

Lol at all the comments! http://www.soundclick.com/player/sin...d=7803172&q=hi Here's the soundclip I promised; three apiece of the three major positions, and then chords played while switching between positions. This is played clean thru my Brown Deluxe; no boost or effects. Crude, but you get the idea...

Sounds great. I love that hip lipstick sound. Very cool.

But I'm missing the "Smoke on the Water" clip....That guitar is screaming "Smoke on the Water".
