Anyone order from Musicians Friend?
I called musicians friend to see what kind of deal I could get and am happy to report that they are very much willing to make a deal and also they have free shipping and no sales tax.
I guess my major concern is ordering a guitar that i've never played. What is everyones experience with musicians friend? Is it safe to order from and what happens if the guitar I get is a real dud? |

I've ordered from them several times. They've got a 45 day return policy so if it's a dud you just out the return shipping. I've never returned anything but from what I've read you just call them and they send you a return sticker and you ship it back to them and they refund the money.

My experience with MF has been positive all around. I've never ordered a guitar from them, but several amps and a bunch of accessories. Once when an amp got lost in transit, I called them up & they sent me another, no questions asked. Now, it wasn't a very expensive amp, granted, but they jumped right on it. Never did find out what happened to the original shipment. Also, they have a good return policy.

i've probably spent a couple of thousand there over the years ... acoustic and electric guitars, amps, recording gear, stomp boxes, strings, tuners ... never a problem and i've never returned a single item ...

I ordered my Telecaster and strap from MF and they were reasonably priced and quick to ship my items. I will order from them again.

I find the service great. Although I have looked at many guitars, I have never ordered one from them, but there are customer reviews, and the good the bad and the ugly are printed. Also, there is the option of returning the item. I hope this helps.

MF is a first-class operation. I have ordered and will continue to order from them without hesitation. They have a great customer service department in case you have any issues.

I've ordered quite a few things from them (an amp or two, pedals and accessories) and I've never had a problem - even if they are the same company as Guitar Center but with different management
I've never had to return anything, but their prices are good and their service and delivery have always been excellent. |

Guitar Center owns Musicians Friend and Music123 (the latter was formerly part of Woodwind & Brasswind). On occasion when I have been unable to find what I needed locally, I have bought from Musicians Friend and Sweetwater, and both gave outstanding service.

I've done biz with them a couple times with LOTS of problems.
I don't use them unless I have no other option- I much prefer Sweetwater.

I ordered a Dunlop Cy Baby from them, a Danelectro Chili Dog, some picks and some books. Great service on the delivery time. I'd feel comfortable ordering a guitar from them with the 45 day return policy.

Of course that is my number 1 concern. I'm not too picky about what guitar I get because a setup can fix a lot of the normal problems i'll have. I just don't want to get one with something drastically wrong.

You will be fine. I have been buying from Musicians Friend for years. Problems have been minimal and quickly and professionally resolved. They have the 45 day return policy. Just ship it back. I belive you will pay shipping, but that seems fair to me.

I've ordered I think 15 guitars and one amp from them, plus many parts, strings, etc.
I returned one Strat bridge thingy that was not IMO as advertised and they e-mailed me a return ship code. Everything else has been real nice' as good or better than I was expecting. Oh, yeah, those 2 "vintage blonde" Squier 51s were an awful color, weren't they?

I've ordered strings for both my electric and classical guitar.
Sometimes they have something not available locally and I will order it from them. Now they have a 2 guitar gig bag for Fender style guitars that seems like a good thing for local gigs! No problems so far.

When??!! Is that deal still going??!! I buy all my strings and picks and doo dads from them. I have bought at least 12 guitars from MF.com over the years. I've ordered a few amps from them. I've never had a problem. They always ship a tiny sale catalog in with your order. I bought some vocal monitors once and my new monitors were in the little sale catalog for $20 less than I paid. I called the 800 number and they put $40 back on my credit card instantly. I think that they are very easy to work with. John

MF is a fine online retailer--the prices are about the same as other retailers online--seems the prices are set--you can go to GC and get the same price on most things.
Of course the local 'mom and pop' stores have suffered or gone to the wayside!

I've always been a hardshell case kind of guy. The only reason is the protection I get out of the hard case. That being said i'm starting to get real tired of lugging it around everywhere and am thinking of picking up a gig bag. The cool thing is i'm looking at buying a new guitar (which you can tell by reading this thread) so for the first time i'm actually happy the fenders i'm looking at come with gig bags. |
