Repo Man - Movie - Poll..........

I watched this movie about 100 times in college alone. Many times since.

This is my favorite cult film. Cosmic Unconsciousness. Oh yeah.

How many times have you watched Repo Man?

I think it's a finite time window. My wife's 42 and considers it a cult classic. I'm 36 and consider it a great example of bad cinema. I'm a fan of bad cinema, but not all bad movies should be cult classics. That should be reserved for "Reefer Madness", "The Rocky Horror Picture Show". "Office Space" and the Evil Dead series, especially "Army of Darkness"

The punk guy crying to the punk girl....

"I wanna have your baby"

I don't think you need to be under the infuence of anything to enjoy a twisted/funny movie with good music stxrus. It's a bit like Napoleon Dynamite....the unique people made me love the movie.

Alot of my friends (who also are BIG Broadway fans) think this movie is a POS but then I come back with the response that they are the same people who think Honk and Billy Elliot are great pieces of work. Besides at least Repo is original not like all of the other Broadwayway musicals out there rip offs of hit or in some cases miss movies.

Big fan here. Also like Alex Cox's Straight to Hell.

I believe Michael Nesmith was involved in the production of Repo Man, at least as far as putting up $$$ for the project.

And yeah, the sdtrk. is excellent...the final instrumental by The Plugz is gorgeous and it has a killer Iggy Pop tune that isn't available anywhere else (the title track.)

Back in the '90s, there truly was a sequel in the works, titled "Otto's Hawaiian Holiday."

We used to quote the movie all the time.

"You do a lot of acid, Miller, back in the hippie days?"

"Have a nice day, Uh, night. Night, day, doesn't mean sh*t."

"Credit is a sacred trust, it's what our free society is founded on. Do you think they give a damn about their bills in Russia?"

"I don't want no commies in my car. No Christians either."

"Look at 'em, ordinary f*****g people, I hate 'em."

"Since time is short and you may lie, I'm going to have to torture you."

"I kill people like you!"

I still say the last one a lot. People just think I'm crazy.

Eek. Now, that is truly one of the worst movies of all time.

"You find one in every car"

They have the widescreen version at Best Buy for $14.99 and my sister gave me a $10.00 BB gift card for my birthday a couple weeks ago. I'm buying a copy. I'm going to relive the weirdness.

Back in the '80s, I put one of those fresheners in my car because of "Repo Man." Sometime in the early '90s, I decided that the in-joke wasn't reason enough to have that tacky thing dangling from my rearview.

I couldn't even tell you how many times I've seen this movie.
I graduated highschool in '85 and had this listed as my favorite movie for my senior interview, after reading it my brother-in-law patted me on the back and said "I didn't know you were cool".

Do you have a "Family Video" store in Ames? We rented it yesterday from one in Cedar Rapids. The section it was in you can rent it for five nights for a dollar and get another from that section for free. We walked out with four movies for a little over three bucks and have them til Wed.

This is pretty much how I feel, although it is other people in their early 40's (not my wife) that consider it a cult classic, Maybe it is the age difference cause I am 32 and feel the same as you...... I saw it once and I think I was to young to appreciate it for what it was for and because I though it was kind of a "blah" movie I never ended up watching it again.

I might have to give it another go now that I have "matured" (yeah right) and see if it does anything for me.

One of my all time, enduring favorites. I swear half the film entered my vocabulary in some way.

What's this David Lynch rumor about?

I only saw it once at the theater, but have seen it dozens of times since, I had a roommate who had it on VHS. It's been quite a while now, I could stand to see it right now. True Classic.

In the theater, I knew it was going to be good as soon as the opening credits started.
