Happy Canada Day!

Yay it's Canada day!
Three great things about it:

1) It's a freaking holiday!
2) 2 weeks until my birthday
3) Anticipation of some fireworks related accident, always one every year

Don't get me wrong....I love my country and all but this should be a statutory holiday that gives you a long weedend. None of this day off in the middle of the week stuff.

Even better it should be Canada Days and last a full week.

Baby back ribs and pork chops on the bbq today, but I have to do it mid-morning. Looks like rain later today.

Hey, JPark, happy early birthday! Lucky you, you're still a whippersnapper!

And don't forget to have a butter tart today, heated, with a drizzle of maple syrup and a scoop of decent vanilla ice cream!

Best to you Canucks!

Two more great things about it:

1) Free admission to National Parks and Historic Sites
2) It's my day off at the National Historic Site where I work, so I don't have to face the hordes of people too cheap to come any other day (2000+).

From Coast to Coast to Coast, we celebrate the diversity that is Canada, the people from far lands who have contributed to the cultural mosaic, and the thing that unites us all: hating the Leafs.

Happy Canada Day to all Canadians.

I work with/for a Canadian citizen, and he's taught me a whole bunch about how the country works/doesn't work. I like a lot of what I hear.

Plus, I've found your Canadian women to be very friendly.

Playing in the headlining act for a sold-out show at the Kathedral in Toronto is possibly my #1 rock and roll memory.

Happy Canada day to all!

Try putting shredded mozza cheese on the fries and spilling the gravy over top.

Instant artery clogger but sure tastes great eh.

Actually I wouldn't be surprised if I found some around these parts, seeing as Saint John is the city where it can be Sunny and hot, rainy, and foggy all at the same time.

A butter tart is like a little pecan pie that you hold in your hand, filled with runny gooey goop made from raisins, walnuts and brown sugar, apparently maple syrup was originally used.

Didn't rain as much as forecast and a great night for fireworks.

Best thing for the heart, eh?? lol I put a sprinkle of pure maple syrup on mine all the time! and heat them up a wee bit ... occasionally with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Actually, I've cut back on them now, but do treat myself here and there. It all comes down to the baker .. some tarts are facsimiles, and others are to die for! I recently found a good baker in the neighbourhood ... expensive, but damn ... they are so good!

I rarely find a real good butter tart. I got spoiled by my Mom's. They must be runny and gooey. Not just sugary and dry. There's a coffee shop near here that has pretty good ones, though.
