Any Surfpick users out there?
I bought one of these over a year ago and I have gotten so used to it that I don't even like to use anything else. This isn't an ad I was just wondering if anyone else has the habit. I keep it in the same case it came in or if breaking from playing my pants pocket. I've had a few close calls with saving it from the washing machine. It has worn to a neat smooth edge that I really like. Anyone else like these?

I have one. Right now it's parked in my 12-string. I like it pretty well. I also have some picks my son made out of a chunk of very hard, reddish-colored wood I've had lying around for several years. I like them, too.
Last year, in an attempt to put the brakes on my GAS, I took to experimenting with different picks. I've developed a taste for the big triangle-shaped ones, fairly thick, beveled, sometimes with one tip rounded. I like the Red Bears a lot, and they look nicer than most, but my favorite is my Blue Chip 60. It gets great volume and tone out of the strings, but with very little pick noise. It's easy to grip, but still buttery over the strings.

What are Surfpicks?
for electric guitar I mainly use these Sharkfins, which are probably a surfers nightmare they don't seem to be availlable any more, at least in the colour of the first three. the others don't work for me. so I'll be using this last batch 'till they're lost or all chewed up....

It was too thick and not ground as smoothly as it could have been. Now I am used to thick (jazz playing) but man this thing was a plank. It wouldn't have been as much of an issue if the tip wasn't so think. I spent a few hours griding finishing and polishing it and got it to where it needed to be and use it occasionally but I have other picks that do better jobs.
As far as premium picks go I prefer Red Bear. |
