Spirit Knot? Whiskey Tango Foxtrot

What exactly is a spirit knot on a tele or any other guitar?
I have never heard of this, and how is it applicable to teles or any other guitar?

Here is a quote from the ad, as the last one dissapeared with a bid, before I could post it.

"Hand selected knots in this Knotty Alder body. Nicely placed and unique "Spirit Knot" on back.

Nice color and grain on this one! Front is clear of knots."

Is this some Celtic or spiritual thing I am unaware of? The last body this person
tried to sell on Ebay had a huge knot that gouged the wood out near the arm rest, and explained it was a "spirit knot".

So, I gotta ask WTF is this, other than a knot?

Some knots resemble a face and are referred to as spirit knots. Some are kinda neet looking.
