New guitar on the way!! Oh Mama!!!

EDIT: Well things can change quickly sometimes. An unexpected (and unwanted) expense suddenly came out of the blue. As a result I'm going to have to step away from this deal. That's life.

Epi Elitist LP Plus - Faded Cherry Burst - Made In Japan.(although mine has far more of the amber in it then the cherry red as shown in the photo below)

I came across this one a couple of weeks ago at my local store and I just couldn't get it out of my thoughts. The stars have aligned to make it possible to buy it so I'm going for it.

I'm getting it for $850 which is a steal (at least in Cdn dollars). It was selling new for $1,575. It was rented for a total of 4 months by 2 different guys according to the store records. It's got a couple of dings on the headstock but that's the only real marks I can see.

This is by far the nicest guitar I have played (or owned) so far. It sounds amazing. The guitar has that nice shimmer in it on the high notes. One of the main things I really like about it is that it has some pretty good spank in it which seems hard to find in alot of set neck, LP style guitars but this thing is nice and percussive. Of course it also honks like a mother when I turn it up.

Anyway, I'm really pleased with having the opportunity to buy it. From doing a little research it looks like these have been discontinued for some reason. I'll be sure and post photos when I get it home. Hooray for me!!

that's the way to do it...I got my Tokai Goldtop from L&M that was a rental
not a scratch on it and out the door for 500 Cdn.tax included..

I guess they figure they've made the difference from the rental charges and can offer them at a huge discount.....nice find

Yeah it was at L & M. They had it tagged for $1,525 but I have known everyone at the store real well for many years now. The guitar dept. manager noticed me looking at it a couple weeks ago and said I could have it for $899 and I got them down to $850 today.

Isn't that the one that Nancy Wilson had a hand in the specs, like the chambered body and the slightly narrower nut?

I do remember seeing some ads a while back with Nancy Wilson and an Epi LP. I'm quite certain this model isn't chambered. This model has a solid one piece mahogany body and in all the reading I've done about it I haven't read anywhere that it is chambered. Which is good because I prefer the solid chunk of wood. It's not overly heavy either, I'm guessing 8.5 - 9lbs give or take.

You are going to love that guitar.

I just sold a similar one...

I had an Elitist in the classifieds here...basically the same guitar...mine was modified with new pots, caps, switches etc.

I was asking $850.00 for it...

Sold to someone at mylespaul.com forum

You're right, I did but I returned it because it turned out to be a bit of a lifeless dud. The same model I had played a couple months before was a real nice guitar but the one I wound up getting just didn't have the same mojo. Hey, it happens.

But this LP is the real deal. Man it plays so effortlessly and it sounds amazing.

It's the Ultra that Nancy is associated with.

Nice. 5.5 - 7lbs is a great weight. The Elitist is probably around 9lbs I'm guessing. It hangs very nicely and it doesn't feel heavy to me. I've done lotsa gigs with my goltop that weighs about the same and it's no problem. I think weight becomes more of an issue when a guitar is not balanced properly when it's hanging from the strap.

So far we're just friends but I'd like to see it go further.....I mean not to the point where I'm breaking laws or anything.

I'm sorry but the Goldtop will be used as a trade toward the Elitist. It's an Epi Goldtop btw.

Sorry to hear that.
Too bad I can't afford to make the trip up there to snag it myself.
Hell, I couldn't afford right now it if it grew legs & came here to me.

Yeah it kinda sucks. I was a little bit down about it but not for long. If circumstances can change so quickly then they can just as easily change in my favour again. Right? Tell me I'm right.

Don't worry, I have my Les Paul already. My wife would quite literally KILL ME if I walked in the house with another guitar. I assume that she'd bludgeon me with my heaviest axe. I really am sorry that things didn't work out this time.
I'm also sorry to hear that the Rev didn't live up to your expectations. I'm still gassing for a P-90 Manta Ray.

Take it easy,

Oh man, now I'm bummed out. Just put some money down on it and put it in layaway. I've been there but, "where there's a will, there's a way".

It's think it's best not to provoke your wife into commiting violence against you. Wise decision.

I was bummed for a bit too but I'm okay with it now. In the end it's just a guitar.

I've been on Rondo's site so much lately. You know, I've got a feeling that the quality of some of the more expensive ($390 and up) Agile and Douglas guitars is the probably not that different and maybe even better than what you can get for spending $700 - $800Cdn in a retail store. Some of the better Rondo LP's are made in Korea and have good quality components it looks like. Believe me, I've been looking and thinking.

That's right my friend.
I know that some day the lottery gods will smile on me & I know if I don't already have enough guitars & guitar accessories to make my wife kill me, I will see how much farther I can push that envelope.
Until then, I guess I'll just hang in there & make do.
