Cuz I just had a 20 year old blow a .35 and I'm curious to what his level was as a comparrison.

No, and for a 20 year old to not only be alive at that level but also alert and able to argue and comprehend what is happening. Pretty much means this kid has a drinking problem.

It is estimated that Bonham drank about 40 shots of vodka in the 24 hours preceding his death. Conservatively speaking, that could put his BAC about .299 - .331 depending on his weight (220-250 lbs.)

That kid is very lucky to be alive and not have his stomach pumped. Also, the test may have registered a bit high, but still that BAC indicates a real serious problem!

According to this BBC article Steve Clark of Def Leppard:

"Steve continued to drink heavily. He was found one night unconscious in the streets of Minneapolis. His blood alcohol level was .59 - double the amount that killed Led Zepplin's John Bonham. Luckily, he escaped death on this occasion."

There was an added aspect with John Bonham as well as his alcohol content: When they laid him down to "sleep it off", they laid him down on his stomach, and he aspirated (breathed/choked) on his vomit.

I think Bon Scott's was off the chart.

That kid does have a problem, and he better address it soon, or a mortician will be dressing him soon........

I think Bonham was nowhere near 220-250 lbs. IIRC, in the movie "The Song Remains the Same", Plant refers to Bonham as "140 lbs. of glory". Even if Bonham put on some weight in the 7 or so years between the MSG concerts in the movie and his death, or even if Plant was underestimating his weight, I can't imagine that Bonham weighed 220-250 lbs. when he died. He wasn't that big a guy.

So his BAC would have been a lot higher than that stated above, assuming that the calculation was correct, just with a wrong weight.

Isn't .40 considered officially lethal? I blew a .24 once, in my stupider days, and that was well after I'd stopped drinking for the night.

Is that not a drastic swing on the machine from .2 to .35? I don't know anyhting about breathlyzers but the fluctuation of the readings seems to indicate a mechanical malfunction. No?
