Help Please: SHG Guitars

Hello Everyone,

The day has come when my love has found a new home. I am trading "Reon" (My Agile AL-2000 Silverburst Les Paul) in on a FrankenTeleStrat that fits me so much better. (At least until I have the money saved up for my full-on Telecaster)

However, the issue that I'm finding is that I can't find any information on the maker of this fine instrument. I've put a down payment on the beauty already
But I wanted to know if anyone knows anything about "SHG Guitars" ??? The guitar model is supposedly a "51".

My searches have been fruitless thus far.
Here are some pics of my soon-to-be new buddy...

God bless,
Dm

More pics.

The thing that really sells me on this guitar is the Kent Armstrong pickups and the Tele style neck that fits like it was made just for me. (Just like the tele necks do)

I agree looks like a Squire 51 with some aftermarket parts on it.

Are you looking to just trade because you are broke or do you have some cash to spend.

If you have a budget people will chime in and let you know what they think is the best deal for the money. Personaly if you can come up with 300 bucks I would look at the Squire Classic Vibe Series or a used MIM tele.

Whoa!! You guys nailed it!!!

It's pretty much a Squire 51 but it has the upgraded pickups, locking tuners and a 3-position switch (instead of the popping knob).

Well, I am not broke...but I am married.
Therefore I am not in sole control of the finances...if you know what I mean.

I am willing to wait on getting my dream telecaster, but I cannot bear being electric-guitarless. This guitar has the some of the stratocaster and telecaster in one package and will do until I can buy my dream guitar.

I did find a white MIM 96 telecaster in Dulles Virginia for 300.00 today.
I thought about springing for it but I'm concerned about the weight of it. The owner said it weighs 10 pounds and that's too much for me.

The main reason I'm selling my AL-2000 is because I'm tired of my neck, back and knees hurting after playing it for more than 2 hours in church.

Looks to me like someone who got a Squier 51 body, put better parts on it, a different neck and a headstock decal. Not that it's a bad thing, but anyone with a computer can make a headstock decal like that. SHG is probably some guy's initials. Again, it might be a killer guitar, but that might be why no one has heard of it.

You know what, you're completely right!!
I din't think of the fact that anyone can put their own logo on the headstock.
All of the parts on the guitar ARE upgraded so that would fit your description perfectly.
Maybe I can take the neck off and look in the pocket to find out who makes the body and where the neck came from. I am thinking of swapping out the neck anyway because the neck doesn't have an externally accessible truss rod. The neck has to be taken off to adjust the truss rod. The neck is a dream and fits my hand...and doesn't need adjusting right now...so I may hang on to it for a bit.

I've already started shopping for the guitar and I don't even have it in my hands yet.
I'm getting the Squier 51 Chrome humbucker bridge and also a white Squire 51 pickguard.

I think it's cool. I had a 51 for a while, but didn't feel like putting the dough into upgrades that I thought it needed. I'm tired of modding! Hope you have fun with it. I'd like to hear the pups!

Thanks Weemikey!! I'm glad that the previous owner of this guitar put in all the hard work and expensive mods already!
I really can't tell you all how much the posts in this thread have made me that much more comfortable in my purchase of this interim (BUT AWESOME) guitar.

As soon as I get the guitar in my hands I will post a vid to my youtube channel and link to it here.

Ha! I feel the same way. I'm ALWAYS the guy who blows money on upgrading cheap guitars only to sell them ...cheaply. Nothing like being the guy who BUYS it!

Amen to that man.
I'm kinda there right now. I did a LOT of work to the AGILE silverburst LP that I'm selling just to get it playable. It had an assortment of issues that I paid to get resolved. And now I find myself selling it for 150.00...

But everything will be okay once I bring the new guitar home.

:)

I decided to replace my pickguard with a custom clear pickguard of my own design. I screwed the pickguard down to a clear piece of Lexan/Plexi and cut it roughly to the shape of the pickguard.

I still have to shave it down and trim it to match the cutout marker/pickguard-template.
Once it is finished I will post more pics.

Until that is finished...I decided to paint the pickguard a color that I like instead of keeping the "Dead Meat" looking original color/design.
