Mama Mia..........(Kill me now)

I'm going away for a couple nights on business.

My wife wanted to watch a movie. I said yes. She picked Mama Mia.

We're half way through.

I love my wife. I love my wife...........must watch Mama Mia.

I have my laptop......my only salvation.

Mama Mia.......it's hurting me. Arrrrrrrrg. They're singing Dancing Queen.

Help me...........

AAaaarrrrrrrrg.

John

I didn't think it was THAT bad. Can't you just stow away the phobias, turn down the testosterone for a few minutes and enjoy it for your wife? Just curious........

Honestly, watching James Bond sing and dance was kind of intriguing. Not to mention that chick from Big Love is pretty easy on the eyes......

Well, I've never seen the movie but I was dragged to the live performance and it actually did not suck.
Was great to see my 3yo son laughing out loud in the scene with the flippers.
Really not bad at all. I felt very cultural having worn a jacket and tie to live theatre.
Now the movie may really suck for all I know...
Suck it up bud.

It takes a real man to sing Dancing Queen with his wife and kids just to make them happy. Do it with joy and love.

And then run downstairs, plug in the guitar, and wail on some AC/DC or Black Sabbath just to cleanse your system.

I pick family stuff that the kids like or goofy stuff like Austin Powers.

I enjoy macho car chase, shoot 'em up movies but I don't pick them for a date night.

This is extreme.

Les Miserable is a great show. We've seen it live and we have the DVD......Mama Mia is an extreme chick flick.

I love my wife.....I love my wife.......

James Bond is singing love songs in a very poor baritone voice.

On Valentines Day my wife made me sit through " The Duchess " some kind of Period piece chick flik movie . I drank heavily through the movie , until it became a comedy at least to me , not to my wife strangely enough ...

I haven't been forced to watch the movie, and I hope it never happens, given my feelings about ABBA in particular and musical theatre in general. BUT…

When you are trying to get started in theatre, you had better be willing to take what you can get as far as opportunities go. And let me tell you, studio1087, having to watch cheeseball musicals beats the heck out of having to be in them. (I'm the one in the striped frock coat down center with a girl on my knee.)

I thought it was an extremely enjoyable bit of froth, myself!

But I like pretty girls and I like ABBA, so...

ABBA were brilliant.

Brilliant.

No desire to see the movie though.

Sounds like there are some more advantages beyond little interest in shopping as far as my very loving but not the romantic chick flick sort of wife.

The movie was fairly excruciating...And I also like ABBA's music! I can admit it.

I've made my wife sit through some pretty bad movies, so I guess I had it coming.

I enjoyed it, I liked Moulin Rouge too. Musical theater, where people actually have to sing, with their full voices, not the usual rock/blues muttering. Musical styles come and go, the sound of the human voice is ever interesting.

At least she didn't make you watch Nights In Rodanthe with Richard Gere. I have a rule about movies with Richard Gere....don't watch em!

I really like ABBA (as does my wife), but that movie felt like it was written by a dim 14-year old girl for an audience of the same. Plus, the singing was....bad.

I never used to care too much for musicals but I really enjoyed Momma Mia. I also liked Chicago a few years ago... and wifey and I saw The Phantom of the Opera in Toronto about 15 years ago and absolutely loved it.

So relax studio1057... your sweety might reward you for watching it with her.

I liked Chicago, Moulin Rouge, Across the Universe, and Dream Girls...but I could only stand about 20min of Mamma Mia. I stole away to the home office and got on the computer. So, I'm 4/1 for the musicals my wife is already over it.

Not to change the subject of the discussion... but wifey made me watch that movie with her last weekend. The small part that Scott Glenn played was well worth watching the movie. That guy is an incredible actor and he sure did a great job in this one.
