Another gal I can't believe nobody mentioned, Erja Lyytinen. She really is one hell of a player, and not that this is a modeling contest, but she's happens to be smokin' hot!

Another super talent nobody mentioned, Lynda Kay of the Lonesome Spurs, not really a lead player, but plays guitar, a suitcase drum and sings her a$$ off. Lynda also happens to be very pretty, I challenge you to find a nicer smile.

araT, I would say that's a great picture of my niece, but I haven't been able to convince her to learn guitar! Seriously though, spitting image.

What's really annoying are when guitar manufacturers use women as "show girls" who don't play to advertise their products in ads and at NAMM I imagine. They look like bimbos on purpose.. and they're assuming their male consumers are the male version of bimbos to take the bait. That's counterproductive to women in music and insulting to me, and I think, other female musicians. When that's the example that some of them set, what do they expect from average guys?
Well said, Steph. Threads like this can go downhill easily, but I think there has been enough representation of "musicians who happen to be female" as opposed to "hot chick with guitar" to make it worthwhile. And frankly, given the over-representation of men in the guitar-playing world, the more we can do to recognize the women among us and encourage other women to play, the better. More different people playing=more different sounds to enjoy.

Eva Gardner, the original bassist for the Mars Volta. She's one of my favorite bassists, and in my opinion the best one TMV ever had.

I found a video of her in action, with TMV when they were still good. It's pretty bad quality, but still cool.

Love the 5.6.7.8's! They are essential rock 'n' roll! I saw them in a little club in Tokyo around '94-'95. They were opening for Guitar Wolf, but they put him in the shade.

I couldn't believe it when I saw them in the Tarentino flick. He always did have good taste in music, but I'm amazed that he found them. Good for him.
