Inauguration Concert sound quality

Did anyone watch the Inauguration Concert?
What happened to their sound mix? It was awful. I was shocked that such a high-profile event had such lousy production.
When James Taylor sang his number, with John Legend and Jennifer Nettles, you could barely hear his guitar, yet you could hear the acoustic guitar from down in the pit. The same thing happened with John Mellencamp - the pit guitar was extremely loud and the guy wasn't even playing that well.
During some of the speeches, I could hear someone messing around with a mic somewhere, and I'm pretty sure I heard an instrument get plugged in hot.
Very strange for such a big event.

I wasn't so disturbed by the mix quality. Probably a tough situation with tons of confusion and big egos demanding this and that, and a very noisy environment. Still, you would think pros at this level would have it together to overcome these difficulties.

What really got me was the sync. It looked like a poor job of lip-syncing by every singer. I bet there are a few engineers getting a good butt-kicking this morning.

i didn't watch the concert, but i did see the inauguration ceremony. Aretha Franklin turned "My Country Tis Of Thee" into an unrecognizable mess. she was caterwalling all over the place. i know she's a legend and all...but sometimes you just gotta let the song be the song.

She's certainly a bigger legend than I thought she was.

I don't think you want to make weight jokes in this forum.

We're not allowing ANY political posts -- just like during the election. This subject, when connected to the Inauguration cannot be discussed here without others taking it into the politics of the event.

I know you aren't making a political thread, but you have no control over the 26,000 others here that will. If the entire subject is forbidden then that can't happen.

Sorry, but we've had a number of posts about the Inauguration and removed them. Even though you really want this post to be about a concert with bad sound, you have framed it with the Inauguration and already other posters have brought the thread to the actual Inauguration ceremony itself. It's only a matter of time before someone uses this thread to launch a political post.
