2009 For 2009 on VH1 this week:

They're showing some obscure videos so I'm trying to tape as many as I can. I missed some good ones when I decided not to tape.

Yeah, I saw a good Bob Marely video the other day. I am also glad to know that I am not the only person who still TAPES stuff off TV, cause most people I know barely use their VCRs now...

I found myself semi-addicted to 2009 for 2009 this past weekend. Nothing but wall-to-wall, round-the-clock classic videos. Reminded me of watching MTV back in the mid-80s when you couldn't wait to see what video they'd play next.

Seems like even VH1 Classic has gone the way of MTV/MTV2/etc. by hardly ever playing videos anymore. If the "2009 for 2009" format was a year-round thing, I'd be tuning in a ton.

I'm not even going give it a peek. At the start of 2000 MTV played their entire video catalog, A to Z by song title. Using their 12-hour day format this ran until late April. Starting with the third day of this marathon I taped every video using two six-hour tapes a day. Each evening (or shortly thereafter) I would capture and convert selected videos to VideoCD-compliant mpeg files. I have close to 3,000 videos archived in this manner, which was a pretty great accomplishment, until YouTube came along...

YouTube sounds crappy through my laptop. Might as well not even listen. Besides...the screen's too small.

I had some tapes with fishing shows on them that I already watched too many times.

I would use a DVR but they wanted extra money for that.

I just got the cool U2 video for "The Fly"! They were the ultimate cool rock band and maybe still are.
