80's guitar straps

I'm restoring a 80's Kramer and I don't remember much about guitar straps from that era.

I'd like to find a period strap for it.

I still have a 4" leather one I used in the 70's, but I'd like to find something different. The guitar is a very dark blue and the 70's strap I have is tan.

Any ideas?

Cool! What kind of Kramer? I upgraded the electronics on my Aerostar zx30 strat copy (pointy headstock): from 3 single coils to Seymour lil 59s and a Duckbucker in the middle for some twang and quack (well at least it sounds more like a single). Mother of toilet seat pickguard and DiMarzio pots and switch. It was not a great guitar, but better than my friends' Squiers and I always liked the neck (maple capped). With the new pickups it's a whole new beast.

Sorry for the crappy pics, I feel embarassed showing them to a pro photog like you!

As for the strap: if my memory serves me correctly, you'll want a leopard skin, zebra or a lightning bolt design for that 80s look. Polka dots are appropriate too, as is leather with metal pointy studs for the Heavy Metal look.

Anything neon will do in a pinch...

But you have to wear spandex pants to pull the whole thing together :-)

Nothing screams '80's more to me then a strap with a rising sun and Japanese symbols. You'll need a matching headband, though.

Congrats on the Kramer. I remember lots of those locking Dimarzio nylon straps back then, ditto on the Japanese themes and animal prints,

Oh, great ideas!!!

The Kramer is just an 80's Striker.

I had an 85 Baretta with a rare maple neck, but I stupidly sold it. I was really missing not having a Kramer, so when this one came up on craigslist at a very reasonable price, I snagged it.

It will never be worth as much as the Baretta, but it will be close when I'm done with it.
It has a single slanted humbucker, just like the Baretta. I have no idea what it is worth, but when I'm done, I'll have $175.00 into it. Probably what it is worth!

I'm too fat for the spandex...

+1 to everybody. Neon, metallic, animal prints, rising suns and Japanese letters, and anything else LOUD.

Did I mention I hated the '80s?

I found a cool rising sun on ebay and a few animal prints...
I won't get the strap until I finish the guitar thought.

I want the Japanese characters the most thought. I just can't find any...

Uhh...what about those woven straps that had the intricate little designs and multicolors?

Yeo. That's what I put on my '82 Ibanez Iceman. I think the Grolsch washer really sets it off-

I remember when I first started taking guitar lessons around '80, they had a poster in the music store of Paul Stanley holding the Iceman.

I'm pretty sure I was using just plain old black webbing straps back in the 80s, as were a lot of people. I embarassed myself in other ways back then!

never thought this would make anyone jealous, but here you go (I do like it, though, and use it on my stage acoustic):

also, more circa 1970 than '80s:

Not a direct answer - just a suggestion that you check out a few videos on Youtube for the 80's bands or players that you like.

OK, my mistake 70s vs 80s. (They say memory is the first thing to go.) I still have one like that if Phtot wants it, brighter colors.
