Out of phase(?) sound....
Besides rewiring my tele with a 4 or 5 way switch, is there a pedal(equalizer) or combination of pedals that would sort of give that strat quackiness sound or something close?

A long time ago (20+ years)... a buddy of mine had a pedal called a "comb filter" and it sounded exactly as you're describing.
I have no idea who made it. I do remember that it appeared to be a piece of junk. |

if you use a five-way superswitch, you can get the three traditional settings, plus series (humbucker-type tone) and series out-of-phase (that kind of twonky sound i think you're talking about). i've got this setup on my working axe and use the out-of-phase sound a lot ... but make sure it's series – parallel out-of-phase (like if you reverse the wires to your existing pickups) is too thin to be of much use. check out Deaf Eddie's wiring scheme here: 5-way Tele switch
EDIT: after rereading your post, i got the idea you might be looking for that sound WITHOUT rewiring ... if so, sorry about that!

I get pretty good quack with my Brent Mason-style tele I put together. It only has a three way switch, but I added a middle pickup and an extra volume knob just for the middle pickup. The middle pickup isn't wired to the selector switch at all, it's on all the time and can be brought in a little or a lot or shut off completely with the second volume knob. It's a lot more versatile than your typical Nashville tele with a 5 way switch.

You can just add a DTDP toggle switch and use te stock 3 way without alot of rewiring.
When the toggle switch is flipped one way its out of phase the other way its normal this is the easiest way to do it without adding a 4 or 5 way switch.
