gutted first cat after turbo on my STI..can you sell that crap inside?

so my STI is going STAGE 2 shortly and i had to gut my post turbo cat (yes this is still FULLY emissions legal as there is still one functioning cat with o2 sensor intact and its not throwing a Check Engine Light suprizingly..) so now the car spools WAAAAY faster and i can officially get it flashed to stage 2 specs (will add 30-40 at the wheels AND also power curve is wicked steep).

anyways- in a lot of major cities around us, cats are being stolen from vehicles for the crap inside (platinum and other crap supposedly) i have abunch of chunks of this stuff--- where can i sell it???

yes i know its illegal to mess with cats on a car technically.... but ... what ever.

Call your local metals recycler. Those are the guys buying up the old cats.

+1. I work for a plastics/paper recycler and we get calls about metals ALL DAY LONG. Probably at least 1-2 per day specifically about cats.

You probably already know about NASIOC (North American Subaru Impreza Club) but if you don't:

http://forums.nasioc.com/

you'll find tons of info there...

The metals guys will be interested in the platinum and palladium, provided they feel like they know who you are and that you aren't recycling someone else's property. Check it out.

As for the lawnmower sound, I don't know how to fix that.

No, it really is illegal. $25,000 fine for each single offense.

I wouldn't call an STi "quiet". There's a guy up the street that drives one, and when the wastegate opens, you'd swear a missile was being launched. Sounds like an Al Qaeda RPG headed at the house.

A youngin' on my street has a 2006 or 2007 Subaru Impreza.
While my "old dudeness" putters along in a highly modified 1991 Mitsubishi Turbo Eclipse.
Guess who gets the dirty looks from the neighbors?

My WRX was totally catless and had a big ol' melon shooter "muffler" on it. It was loud as heck!

Anyhow, yeah, look up the recyclers in your area. They'll take that stuff off your hands.
