What is your favorite Pink Floyd album?
Mine is A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. Somehow Dark Side Of The Moon and The Wall never grabbed me.
Strangely, what attracts me to this album isn't just the music (which I love) but the title. I think it is one of the great album titles of all time. |

Animals. I always loved Dark Side Of The Moon, but I saw them on the Animals tour at The Miami Basball Stadium in '77(I think), and it just grabbed me! Great show, but their big pink pig ripped in half from the strong winds.

I've never been a big "The Wall" fan. It looked to me as the beginning of the end at this time. Too much ads, too much Waters etc...
I love the cover art of Animals, and I like the title "A momentary lapse of reason" too My favorite album is probably Wish you were here, I remember opening this black plastic pocket to see the white cover, the stickers inside and listening to shine on you crazy diamond for the first time... I love DSOTM and meddle too, and Piper too. I love them all! |

It would have to be Dark Side of the Moon for me. It takes me back to a time and place in my life. Brings back memories. I wore that album out.

Animals is my favourite. Meddle, Wish You Were Here and Obscured By Clouds are neck-in-neck for second place.
Although there are a few really great songs on The Wall, overall it was a huge disappointment for me. Recently I've found myself playing the song "High Hopes" a lot. Itmakes the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I love that song.

For me, it is Wish you were here.its got it all for me, the tripped out long long intro to shine on, the snarling intensity of have a cigar & welcome to the machine, the rock ballad of wish you were here (which incidentally has the 2nd best ever acoustic vamp, the 1st being "here comes the sun")....
I do hold a special spot for dsotm though....that solo on "time" is tasty.

ummmm......all of 'em !
Seriously, they've all got high points, but all in all, Dark Side of the Moon is my fave, because it's their most cohesive musical statement imho.... |

Wish You Were Here, then The Wall, followed by DSOTM, Animals, Meddle, Momentary Lapse of Reason.
Wish you were here was my first album! I still love the whole Shine on you crazy Diamond, and all the emotion DG puts into that song. The Wall is simply amazing, the guitar work is rock mastery. I actually prefer the first lead break in Comfortably Numb to the second, but the second is one of my "desert island" leads. DSOTM needs no more praise then being on the Top 100 for 15 years striaght and is still in the top 200 The rest of the disc's are also great, but as a collection of work over 40 years, the whole of it is astounding. I guess Pink Floyd are one of my all times, along with the Stones, The Who, Beatles, Zepplin, Aerosmith, Gatton and Buchanan. I am also not a big fan of the Syd Barrett Floyd. It does nothing for me, but his break down and his life were fodder for some of the greatest rock music ever done. Hell of a band, RIP Richard Sargeslide

I'd have to go with Dark Side followed by Animals.

My #1 favorite is "Piper...". I noticed a lot of votes for "Meddle", which is another favorite of mine. I think it's the first album in which they find themselves musically, after Syd's departure. They made a lot of noise before that! It was cool artistic noise, but if you didn't "get it", it could be excrutiating!
I also like DSOTM, but you just hear it too much on the radio. I still think highly of "Wish You Were Here", but the real underrated sleeper is "Animals". Just the musicianship alone is worth the price. One of David Gilmours finest moments for sure! So in order: "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" "Meddle" "Animals" Least favorites: "The Final Cut" - the most boring Pink Floyd album of all IMO. "Atom Heart Mother" "The Wall" - never could warm up to that one.

Animals for me with DSOTM a close second.
After that, Wish You Were Here. I place Animals as one of my personal top five favorite albums of all time. (btw: Darkside is on that list as well). While I consider myself a Floyd fan, I too, never really enjoyed the Wall as much as the others. |
