Possibly some sort of manual watercraft propelling device.

I believe it was once part of a high-speed device known as a "scooter"....

Cheers, Tim

"Archeological evidence in the form of a primitive string vibration transducer has been unearthed to prove that music originated from human beings before the advent of the earliest composition algorithms..."

Its belived that this artifact was once used to destroy the hearing of an enemy warrior and serenade the females of the tribe.

Certain features suggest a somewhat tenuous link with earlier
weaponry, used by replicant model SRV–1 in the hotly contested,
so called "clone wars".

'...Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I
found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in
my hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful...'

'...I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound
differently. As I struck the wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds
and soon my own music! How different it could be from the music of the Temples! I can't wait
to tell the priests about it!...'

What can this strange device be?
When I touch it, it gives forth a sound
It's got wires that vibrate and give music
What can this thing be that I found?

See how it sings like a sad heart
And joyously screams out its pain
Sounds that build high like a mountain
Or notes that fall gently like rain

I can't wait to share this new wonder
The people will all see its light
Let them all make their own music
The Priests praise my name on this night

That's really cool John.

Can you build me one of these JD-500?

I could, but it'd probably not be as good as you could build it for yourself. I'm more of an arthier than a luthier.

Billy Gibbon's name seems to pop up a lot in threads where I post images of my guitars. He's recently looked-over one of the JBD-200 'Sharq' guitars that Bruce Bennett built in Chattanooga. He seemed to really like it, and took a card from Bruce but we haven't heard anything from him yet, so who knows? maybe he'll order one eventually.

As far as this concept model (the JD-900) is concerned, he'd probably go for one of my more automotive versions of it...my 'Magneato '62' (Both guitar images are unfinished at this point):
