Milwaukee has a Bronze Fonz !!
Henry Winkler is in town today; he's throwing out the first pitch at the Brewer's game tonight. We unveiled our Bronze Fonzie statue on the downtown riverwalk today. Gary Marshall was also here. What a proud day in beer town. (Lenny and Squiggy did not attend). The mayor and all the news reporters were downtown on the riverwalk for the big unveiling. This is going to be huge for the city. I can just see thousands of people coming up from Chicago to see this man. We've got beer and Summerfest and the Bucks and Brewers and now the Fonz will never leave us. I'm crying. Tears of joy man. Crying. Feel the love. Feel the love. L-O-V-E! More about the statue. Feel the love. John

I am so touched that no one from IL made a wise crack about my claim that they would drive up here to see the Bronze Fonz.
Penny Marshall and the whole cast were at the Brewers game last night. Potzie Weber (I don't know his real name) sang the national anthem. Ron Howard was not here but he made a speech via the jumbotron screens at the ball park from a movie set that he was working on. I have a picture of myself standing by the "Home of Les Paul" sign in Waukesha and now I need the Bronz Fonz pic. Too funny. John

When the plans for this statue were announced, I thought it was a bad idea. Now I have changed my mind. Milwaukee is a great place for tourists, and a simple thing like this statue might have enough appeal that it will actually bring a few more people downtown to check out the riverwalk and the other great stuff in the area.
I saw that the Journal-Sentinel had an online poll asking who else deserves a statue on the riverwalk. Warren Spahn? Hank Aaron? I think Liberace would be cool.
