What do you mean - the brand, the gauge or something else?
I would have thought that the answer is the same as it would be today - whatever the owner preferred - assuming that they change the strings at least once every 45 years. |

Do yourself a favor and try a good ol' set of EB Slinkys on that thing. JMO. I love that guitar. I need another Dano. Had a U2 that was stolen and didn't replace it. The lipstick pickup has a great sound.

I like pure nickel strings on regular six-string Danos. They bring a richer sound out of the lipsticks than nickel plated steel. Try GHS Nickel Rockers, .011s
