Punch Brothers... they're so good... :)

So... I've been away awhile... but.. I'm listening to their album at work today... and I figured I'd post about them.... again... :)

I actually saw the Punch Brothers a couple of weeks ago...

I have since procured a banjo and am setting off on the life long quest to play half as good as Noam Pikelney's pinky finger...

That dude is the man...

anyways..

If you get the chance to see them live... don't hesitate... you're not going to find any videos on Youtube or elsewhere that are going to prepare you for how good those guys are..

To put things into perspective... somehow I've lucked out and seen these "big name" musicians perform in the last two years:

AKUS 3 times
Bela Fleck 7 times (2 times w/ the flecktones.... 3 times in duet settings.. 2 times in bluegrass bands)..
Tony Rice
Brent Mason
Jerry Douglas band 3 times
Brad Paisley
Sam Bush Band
Mike Marshall

All those shows were great... and.. well.. you know how good those musicians are.... and you know that i'm partial to tele players....... but I fully believe that the Punch Brothers were EASILY the pinnacle of my concert going life... period.

I cannot speak highly enough of those guys..

I FULLY believe that Brent Mason is the most versatile guitar player I ever had the pleasure of seeing.

I FULLY believe that Bela Fleck is the most versatile banjo player I've ever had the pleasure of seeing.... and he happens to be my favorite musician... I've ALWAYS loved his approach to music...

But... I FULLY believe that the Punch Brothers are the most musically versatile band I've ever seen.. Collectively their talent level is indescribable.

If you really want to see a special band... see them.... before they undergo the inevitable "Vh1 Behind the Scenes" phase...
