1."Live At Leeds" The Who; yeah yeah it was recorded in The 60's who cares it's a 70's record.

2. "Manfred Mann's Earth Band"; another no-brainer that influenced more Stars than casual listeners. "Living Without You" Mann's version is probably the only song of the first 5 years of the 70's that's obviously better than the rest of The Top 40 entries.

3. "Sticky Fingers"; ....Exile - NO WAY Hose B!!! "Can't Ya Hear Me Knocking"
is a better riff than anything else - it's sooo nasty.

4. "Live At Filmore East - The Allman Brothers"; rip open a Pabst Blue Ribbon and give a listen to the small box Model 1987's and Les Pauls. 36 years later and it sounds like it's happening in The Present. Whoever engineered this one deserves a "lifetime achievement award" for the effort.

5. "Led Zeppelin IV"; if You weren't there at the time - the closest vibe I can put to it was maybe the first time I heard "Champagne Supernova" which is and always will be a tremendous Tune.

Folks who put the knock on Oasis IMHO have their heads contorted in a position usually reserved for people in positions of power.

That would be Tom Dowd, Stan -- killer producer and engineer, his next project was "Layla." He cut everybody from Lynyrd Skynner to Aretha Franklin. There's a documentary out on him called "Tom Dowd and the Language of Music" that's a pretty interesting couple of hours.

hmmm... does everyone here know what a smallbox model 1987 is?

I have the 1986 version and it is very, very special.

I haven't seen anyone mention Be Bop Deluxe yet. I think I like Modern Music a little bit better than Sunburst Finish, but it's close.

If someone can post the Bay Sh^^ty Rollers and Brotherhood of Man then lets not forget some of the other dross that the 70's provided us with - David Cassidy (with or without the Partridge Family), Slade, Sweet, David Essex, Donny Osmond, Mud, Alvin Stardust, TOny Orlando...... the list goes on.............

Thank goodness for some of the other stuff mentioned to keep us sane.....

Let the record show: That was a joke. I don't actually think the Bay City Rollers were the best of the 1970s. I was being ironic.

Wow, Be Bop Deluxe, now there's a blast from the past. "Modern music, on my radio." Yeah, I used to like them back in the day.
