Strat-o-matic online!
Howdy,
Yesterday I happened upon an online Fantasy Baseball league sponsored by The Sporting News online. It's called Strat-o-matic, but it's not a board game in this instance. I decided to join a 70's league and start my own virtual early 70's Oakland A's..sort of. I spent the overwhelming majority of my payroll on pitching. We're called The Oakland Mules! (Remember Finley and that mule?) The problem is, my 70s league needs some more teams. It costs $25 for one team. So c'mon and have a blast from the past; join up and we'll see whose players have the best mustaches! Eggman |

Getbent,
I'm not the most 'net savy guy, but this method will get you there.. Use Google to find The Sporting News. When you get there, click in Fantasy, a drop-down menu will appear. Click on Strat-o-matic. When you arrive at SOM, find the section for The 70s game. Please sign up for an $80M dollar team, like mine. Then be prepared to see a goldmine of pitching and a fairly small and over-priced group of position players! I wanted Bando, Tenace and Rudi but reluctantly concluded that Finley was right-they weren't worth the money! LOL. Except for Al Oliver and Harmon Killebrew, my Oakland Mules are going to hit with all the power and high average of a weak AAA team! Hope to see you there. Eggman PS: Online scuttlebutt is that Montreal's Steve Rogers is a good value for a starting pitcher.. |

Howdy,
Ahem! We still need more teams for my 70s league. The specific name the league where my Oakland Mules are is TSN_10201. Make sure to budget half your $80M payroll for sluggers. Being a long-time Baseball purist, I went in and snapped up Catfish, Blue, Holtzman, Tiant, McNally, Blass, Fingers et al. And had little cash left for guys who can produce RBI. (good hitters) I've only got two really good hitters: Killebrew and Al Oliver, with Steve Kemp in 3rd among these for RBIs. The rest are .22 caliber at the plate, with the exception of young Piniella. Come join in for $24, put on an 8-track tape of "Frampton Comes Alive" and play along! Eggman |
