Up and around...but not out and about.
Hey y'all...
Well, after 4 days in the hospital, huge doses of antibiotics and daily dressing changes, I got the MRSA bugs on the run and a good size open wound on my leg to take care of for awhile. Got home Monday evening and spent a couple of days feeling pretty awful after I got home. Still not supposed to get out in the sun (antibiotics) but I'm getting around a lot better, the wound looks healthy and dressing changes are getting much easier. Tell ya what, this MRSA staph is something you sure as hell do NOT want. I'm just real, real glad that I acted on it when I did.

Get yourself well again!! I have a friend who has had two rounds with those critters. Both times it appears that he contracted it while visiting people in the hospital.

Well, it's funny how things might work out on this.
I"m going down to p/t at work starting on Monday, which is only 2 to 5 in the afternoons for decent $$. I also work as a freelance writer...and play gigs on the weekends, at least...if I can figure out a way to bring in a few hundred $$ a week on top of that, I can do fine and stay at p/t. I really want to start back at the gym again (havent been in a couple of months) and that'd open up my schedule enough to do that. Except now I'm scared to death of the locker room and MRSA bugs crawling around.

So yeah, I've been spending a lot of time on 2 instructional DVDs...Joe Carr's "60 Licks in 60 Minutes" and "Western Swing Rhythm Guitar Patterns". Never been a better time to spend some time in the woodshed.

Well, the pain is now completely manageable. The thing I'm having the hardest time with is the lethargy. I'm almost done with a course of 800 mgs/Bactrin (sulfa antibiotics) 2x/day and they have been knocking me into the ditch. Just doing routine things is pretty much of an effort. Rather short on both piss and vinegar right now.
Can't wait to get past this.

YOF-Do you know where this came from?
I feel so bad for you. There is nothing worse than having an illness and then having to take meds that kick your butt too. I have a friend whose mother-in-law just had major surgery and had to take coumadin (basically rat poison) to keep her blood thin and she said that was worse than the surgery. Hang in there, bud. We're pulling for you. To quote one of the great philosophers of our time: "Remember, we're all in this together!"-Red Green

Naw, man. All I know is I had a mosquito bite that wouldn't quit itching and I picked at it until it bled a little. From there, the staph bug got in and started having a regular party in my tissues.
From a mosquito bite to a gaping, open wound...
