A free McCartney concert!?!

I have ALWAYS wanted to see him but it's always too expensive.

Enjoy!

Yeah, me too. I had just landed my first good paying job out of college when Sir Paul rolled through.. and the tickets were $200. It was either that or the car payment.

Have fun Max. That will be a serious crowd!!

I saw him when he rolled through Denver a few years ago and it was amazing. I got to witness a true legend in music and am very grateful to have had the opportunity. I did get styled with free tickets to the VIP boxes too which was just lucky timing on my part. No one in my office could go and when they finally asked me I said hell yeah! You will love the show, he's still got it.

And to think some people are complaining about Paul McCartney's presence.

I saw Paul in '93. AMAZING! lots of Beatles tunes, and just seeing him play that old Hofner bass gives you chills. among the highlights:

Live & Let Die with fireworks

Singing the "na-na-na-nananana's" at the end of Hey Jude along with 65,000 people

Yup, heard about that...
Some moron tried to make this a political and cultural thing. Come on...
And the media gave him a lot of air time of course. He voiced his opinion and later retracted his comments because everybody was pissed at him. Everybody I talk to think it's great.
Case closed.

Ironically, I won't go because Sunday I have a gig where I'll play 90 minutes of Beatles songs...

Thanks guys !! I'm now even more excited !! At first I thought it would be stupid to loose the only occasion to see one of the last standing Beatles. But now I think I'll see one of the greatest show in my life.

Concerning the political criticism about his coming to Quebec ...
It is a landmark of the province of Quebec (the only french speaking province/state of North America) to feel threatened by stuff like this . But , again, it is so uncalled for ... Let the dogs barf (I guess ...)

I'm living in Quebec city and I'm not sure I will want to go thru that crowd to see him that night. You'll have to get there early to have a good place.

I'll have to think about it again. It would be my only occasion to see him live.

Seen Sir Paul 3 times over 4 decades. If I could see him 3 more times over the next week I'd go to all three. And how does that guy look and sound soooo good at his age? Think he's got a portrait hidden in the attic somewhere?

I saw Paul in London (Wembley Arena?) in 1990. I didn't have much cash in those days, so it can't have been that expensive.

It was a great show and a lot of fun. Does he still have the energy to bring it like he used to?

Every concert DVD or on TV Ive seen from Paul has been good there is no way you can tell the man is 65 years old just from listening to him.

Hes definatly still got it.

When Paul McCartney finally tours, I will have to drive at least four hours and probably pay anywhere from $200 to $400 to see him. I'll do it, because he's the only artist left that I absolutely have to see, and I probably won't go to anymore concerts after I see Paul.

He's coming to your town. You would honestly pass up the opportunity to sing "Hey Jude" with THAT many people? For free????

For great justice, go see Paul McCartney. The only thing that would keep me from that show is if Jesus or any member of the Traveling Wilburys showed up at my door and told me not to. Well, maybe not Jeff Lynne, but you get my point.

Oh yeah??? Big whoops! I'm, uh, I'm going to see, uh, Herman's Hermits this weekend! For free!!! So there!

(OK, so I'm a little jealous. )

(I'm also pretty jazzed, actually, because I saw HH a year or two back, and they put on a really, really good live show!)

I would hope it would be free.

What a bummer... When done with the gig, I'd have to drive downtown; I don't think that by then, I'd be able to get a any spot worth the trip, let alone a parking place within walking distance.
But FYI; if you're like me and you can't get there, you can actually order the show live on PPV on Illico and there is a giant screen setup in Levis for those nice people living on the south shore.
We got this beatles gig before Sir Paul's presence was announced. Had I known, I wouldn't have done it.

I saw Paul in Cincinatti back in the early 90's. He came to the Pontiac Silverdome on a night when my band was playing, so we couldn't go. So, we decided to all get tickets and drive down to see him in Cinci. It was way cool, although we were sitting up in the nosebleed section.

He had Hamish Stuart on rhythm guitar/bass, and ol' what's his name that came out of the Pretenders on lead guitar - MacIntosh. It was a great band! Linda was there too.

Boy, the world has a whole new respect for Linda Eastman, after the Heather Mills debacle eh???

Anyhoo, I had binoculars, and spent most of the time watching to see what Linda was really doing up there. Mostly tambourine playing. She mashed down on some keys from time to time, but I don't think they were turned up.

Paul (or Faul - depending on who you ask) played an acoustic solo set featuring "Yesterday" in which he completely forgot the words on the second verse, singing "Suddenly.... (and then a look of horror on Sir Paul's face, he sings....) da da da da da da da da daaaaa...." The whole crowd busted out laughing.

This was during a time when the feud between Paul and Yoko was at a peak, and flying over the stadium was a small plane towing a big banner that read "Yoko Free Zone". I thought that was hilarious!

Paul's always had a great sense of humor. I hope he maintains that after being put through the Mills (pun intended).

Go Paul go!
