And a bit of Tommy Cooper....

I went to the doctor and told him I couldn't stop singing "The Green, Green Grass of Home".

He replied, "That sound like Tom Jones Syndrome"

"Is it common?"

"It's not unusual"

Now, that's funny.

Tom Jones is as cool as they come. He's been on the Stern show a number of times, and whether you're a Howard fan or not, you have to appreciate the stories he pulls out of a guy like Tom Jones. He's always honest and happy to share some amazing tales. Speaking of tail, Tom has seen a bunch.
He's a great guy with a great voice, and tons of hits. He even recorded "Black Betty". I gotta hear that.
Thanks for bringing him up.

Thanks for the links. I've been a fan of Tom Jones for a long time. I've seen him in concert several times and he still sings great (and in the same keys he sang the songs in the 60's). I've also been singing several of his songs in my solo shows for years. His great talent is often overlooked due to his image.

I saw Tom Jones in Vegas about 3 years ago. He had just recorded an album of blues-y material - he opened with Howlin' Wolf's "300 lbs. of Heavenly Joy." He did a really good job with this material, gave little talks on the history of some of the songs, and his band was quite good, too.
