Creedence Re-visited....
I'm just back from seeing CCR at Pine Knob (or DTE depending...) and I must say that it was very enjoyable. Not in a "blow yer face out" kinda way, but they were great nonetheless. The biggest disappointment was finding out that Elliot Easton is not with them now. I've never liked the Cars, yet I always LOVED Elliots playing, and I really looked forward to seeing him live with CCR. No matter. The new guy (I can't remember his name) is a great player, and added his own style to the recipe, instead of just re-hashing John Fogerty's licks. The vocalist really came close to Fogertys sound, and was an excellent front man as well.
Old Stu and Clifford are still tight as ever, and I actually thought they were MUCH better players than they were during the glory years. I used to take them for granted, but they really are a great rhythm section. It was a spur of the moment deal. My drummer buddy called me from the crowd on his cell phone and told me that they got in for $5. After hearing that, I threw the kids in the car, and we all went. It was a great show for the kids to see too. Tuesday I have to take them to see Kids Bop Live. Don't expect a concert review on that one folks!

Ohh whoops... This thread makes more sense now. I really forgot about all the trials and tribulations they've been through. So they've formed another band (Creed. Clear. Revisted) and it's just the bassist and drummer? Damn they are fools... Fogerty is alive and well...
As a whole its a pretty sad story for a band that achieved so much in so little time. Either way i'm sure it was great watching two absolute rock n roll legends. Cheers. |

JF has a real vendetta against Stu and Clifford going way back to the mid-1970's when he was still fighting with Saul Zaentz over the CCR catalog. Stu and Clifford had to call their band Creedence Clearwater Revisited because JF refused to play in it, and made a stink over using the old name.
The story of the break-up of CCR is one of the all-time bad-blood stories of rock 'n' roll. A book came out a while back (Bad Moon Rising, I think) that details most of it. JF comes off as a real jerk in that book, but it tracks pretty well with what I've been hearing over the years. |

Well, I have to tell you, I saw Fogerty last year in concert and he really can still kick it up a notch!

I've always been a Stu fan and thought that he does not get as much notoriety as he deserves. Quote:

Well, the singer of my band just saw Fogerty live a couple of weeks ago, and said it wasn't a very good show - all the songs were played like on the record, including the solos, no variations, longer songs, medleys, etc. - might as well have put a jukebox on stage...

Well, I wasn't really interested in the all the drama surrounding the event. I think if Stu and Clifford want to go back out and hit the road, more power to 'em. It is a more than a little weird with them using John's tunes, and replacements for John.
I don't know if it's any worse that there's a "Ten Years After" band going around with three original members and an Alvin Lee replacement. I was a big fan in my youth, and would have a hard time swallowing that. The bottom line - let their attorneys sort it out, and as long as it's legal, if they want to tour, and it only costs $5 or $10 to get in - why not??? I got more for my $5 last night than I have at some shows costing $50.

For those of you that missed Elliot Easton in this band, there is a double CD of Creedence Clearwater REVISTED called "Recollection" on which he is featured. There is a truly sick little lick EE hits in "Down onthe Corner" that is worth the cost of the whole set. Great record - check it out. http://www.creedence-revisited.com/music.html

Yeah Elliot Easton Reform the New Cars band with Todd Rundgren as lead vocalist. I believe the new guitar is Tal Morris who used to play on and off again with Huey Lewis and News
