stuck behind someone going 10 under?
what does everyone feel the most TACTFUL way to inform the person that pulled out infront of you just to go 5-10 MPH below that they need to speed up?
1. blare your horn untill they pull over, get out and throw their coffee on you. 2. flash your lights at them and motion with your hands what the speed limit is (for example- motion with 4 fingers- then 5 fingers on the other hand to tell them its a 45, not a 25) 3. look around for the police before massing them on a double yellow, or passing on the shoulder 4. keep a mega phone in your car 5. drive on the side walk. 6. ask them at the next stop light if they noticed what the super large with signs said on the right side of the road i have notice more and more it seems to be Camry owners guilty of this on an exponential level-which is sad because i really used to like camrys. i know this is a really stupid rant, but people need to realize that they are hindering everyone else on the road with this behavior- going 25 in a 35 isnt going to do anything for fuel economy. im not sure i really understand why most of the people that pull out infront of me insist on going much much lower than the speed limit.. what would be to considerate way to inform others that they are being inconsiderate? |

saving gas on the highway at 60-70 and 80 is reasonable... 10 under in town is rediculous-the engine running for that much longer vs the drag and etc isnt saving anything- pulling out infront of someone to go slow is what im focusing on.
whats the polite approach? as far as patients goes-- i dont have patients for people that are unaware that they are impeding on others. just like the person at the light with his windows down and radio blaring, or the guy smoking beside you in the next lane and it blows into your face. i think the only answer is to carry a bull horn. most of what im saying is for pure comedic value also guys! |

I prefer a CB with an external speaker under the hood. That or a red flashing light in your window. Just don't get caught.
Of course, around here everybody is going 10 over so I'm usually the hold-up. I try to go the speed limit. |

I'm a professional driver, driving 45 ft long coach buses, and I get caught behind those folks frequently! And in a bus, passing them is often not an option (buses don't change lanes and accelerate as easily as cars, and in traffic, no one wants to let a bus over!).
Since buses aren't conducive to impatience, I've forced myself to just relax and wait until either the slowpoke makes a turn, or I reach a place where I CAN pass them. Any other approach really just adds to the overall road rage level... In the grand scheme of things, being caught behind a slowpoke doesn't tend to last for more than a few minutes, and the actual time lost is considerably less than that, so I find a zen approach leaves me less exhausted at the end of my day! Not to say I don't sometimes wish I could Taser them!!! Cheers, Tim

You were already told the answer to this question. Maybe you were in a hurry and didn't see it... be patient.
And there's guy behind you when you're going 35 in a 35 and he's posting on his favorite forum... "Should I honk or blow him into the weeds?" Just be nice. Take the high road. You have no idea why they're driving slow. It could be a valid reason. It could be a grandma... hey, it's your grandma. You don't mind if your grandma takes her time and you'd be really mad at some 27 year old kid blowing his horn at her frightening her for no reason. |

anybody trying to pull that crap around here would be dragged from their cars and savagely beaten. Try to drive just the speed limit here, and your tailpipe will be subject to a rectal examination.
Buy a beater dump truck. Drive 2 inches off their bumper, with that big old diesel clattering in their backlight. Blow the air horn repeatedly. |

From the other car's point-of-view, you pulled in behind them.
There are few things in life getting that warrant getting upset. This is one of them. Speed limits, in most cases are not the minimum, but the maximum speed allowed. If you know what I mean.

True story:
My 14 year old daughter just got her permit and my wife's been letting her do lots of the driving. Well, she's not comfortable to be going real fast. Anyhow, some dork got behind her honking and gesturing, and, when he finally got around her, he yelled, "Why don't you learn to drive?" Guess he was getting his wish, huh? |

It never ceases to amaze me at how people pull out in front of me
1) almost cause an accident and are seemingly in a hurry...and then proceed to drive 5-10 MPH under the limit, as was stated 2) would have had plenty of time to pull out after I had gone past because there was no one behind me 3) proceed to turn off 1/4 mile down the street I am also irritated by people who cruise along in the passing lane as if it were just an optional lane, with people passing them on the right. But I am also irritated when I am doing 10-12 MPH OVER the limit in the passing lane and I'd like to pull into the right lane, only I can't due to traffic...it is then when I seem to have the guys come behind me that want to stick their headlights 2 ft. from my trunk. If 65-68 isn't fast enough for you to get where you're going, you need to organize your life better.

I think the Mexicans cover the whole range of driving from good to bad just like any other group of folks. Here in Tucson though you don't want to get near a car with Sonoran (Mexico) plates 'cos if they crash ya you'll never get paid off.
