Reckless Kelly

Reckless kelly is one of my favorite bands and I was just wondering if anybody else on the tdpri is a fan of theirs If you havent heard them you really need to look them up their guitarist (David Abeyta) is probably one of my favorite tele players out there and is one of the people that inspired me to go out and buy my first tele.

I went to hear them play in concan a few years ago. They were pretty good but we only stayed to hear a few songs.(the opening band stayed out there forever and we were all getting tired by then.)

NICE...XM-12 X-COUNTRY. This is the first and ONLY channel I hear all these guys on.

Just hope with XM's troubles and the pending merger, my faves don't get screwed up.

Can you recommend a good Reckless Kelly album to start with? I've heard about them but I've never heard them. Thanks in advance!

I think you might be thinking of Restless Heart. Different deal entirely.

That "Wicked Twisted Road" song gets a lot of play on KPIG in this area. I like that one but haven't heard anything else that they've done.
Good to see Bob Schneider mentioned on the TDPRI as well. One of my favorites.

It seems that there suddenly is a lot of cool music coming from around here these days. Most of it seems to eminate along I35 from San Antonio to Waco. I really think Willie started the whole 'outlaw' thing in Austin (on I35) years ago but there is such an outlaw Texas movement that there are radio stations devoted to this music.

It is cool to go to a steak house and eat while watching Radney Foster or Redd Volkaert. Once I stopped in a place I'd never been before and caught Billy Joe Shaver by chance. I really should take more advantage of what's going on here, it's probably fleeting.

A good one to start out with is their live album Reckless Kelly was Here or The album Wicked Twisted Road. If you ever get a chance to see them live go cause they put on a great show.

Ya the music scene here in Texas is just awesome. Lubbock is a really great town to go and see some good shows. Back in December I went to this place downtown and watched an acoustic set that Billy Joe Shaver, Jason Boland, Randy Rogers, and Chris Knight put on.

I heard them on the radio and thought it was Buddy Miller. Good songs and all, but we already have a Buddy Miller.
