I tried taking up bicycle riding a few years back and I just can't do it what with my knees being screwed up, a broken tailbone that never healed right, arthritic wrists and hands from 6 years of packing plant work, and few other things like that. Add in the damage from the car accident last year and, well...All I'm going to say is, I'm glad you guys are saving gas for me so I can still get around.

I ride my bike to work 4 days a week. I usually only drive my truck twice a week.

To date (since I started biking to work in April) I've logged over 500 miles on my bike.

I have three bikes in my possession now, as a former triathlete I have some what eccentric taste in bikes.

Old raliegh grifter from my middle school years that I take to burning man

Softride Power Wing 650- like this but blue

Slingshot 650 tribike

Kinda of a shame that the motor really needs a complete rebuild these days

Would really like to get my mountain bike back from my ex, it's really the most suitable for commuting.

Steve

I am going to start riding to work soon. At least a couple of days a week.

I got a Kona Smoke a few years ago for a Father's Day surprise. After our Father's Day lunch my family and I started walking around until my then 11 year old daughter begged to go into the bike store. When we went in she went to the counter and asked for 'Lawrence' - I felt like I was on Punk'd but in a good way. I rode out with this sweet ride.

Sorry for the side track.

I love bicycles, but have zero opportunity to commute with one. My main passion is fixed gear bikes, and track bikes. Simple like a Tele, super light, super fast. Here's an old lugged frame I turned into a fixed gear rocket for a "pathracer" build contest I did a year or two ago.

I used to commute 5 days. West Virginia is pretty to ride, but all the blind turns are dangerous so I carpool. Misspent my youth on cycles - from touring Finland at 7 to spending lots too much time in Pocahontas County WV in my 20s. Now my body's all busted up so I don't get offroad anymore. I did use the Rivendell to get 40 pounds of rock maple to build some Kanteles (harps) a couple weeks ago from 20 miles away, and these days thats a long/hard ride for me... (sigh)

Bike stable:

Rivendell custom set up as french tourer - canvas bags, etc. Like this, but Finnish flag blue and white:

Fuji Team SL road/race bike, like this but with Ksyriums. Darth Vader's race bike :):

Gary Fisher Cake 2.0:

And the most telecaster-like one of the bunch...

1937 Malvern Star - same model that won the '36 Tour De France. Like this but white and black fixed gear:
