Hancock -- the movie (Not Herbie)

Anybody else see it. I just got back from seeing it with my daughter. Interesting movie. I won't give it away. But I do think it was more of a great concept and less of a great movie. Also, it was a great setup for the sequel and the pre-quel.

What did you think?

I haven't seen it yet, but I probably will. There are two sets of trailers that I've seen. One is comedic and makes it look like he's a burned out super hero. The other one gives more of a serious story line.

However, I did open this thread in hopes of talking about Herbie Hancock. Really. So...in honor of getbent's homonyms week.....my all time favorite band with no guitar player....The Headhunters:

I think Will Smith is o.k...

depending on what roles he takes. I cannot see him as the superhero type, sorry.

Bit of a disapointment for me.
Started out interesting..... then fizzled.
Can't anyone write a third act?

That's what the local newspaper review said about it--pretty good start, but fizzled down the stretch a little. Still overall gave it an "okay" review.

I like Will Smith a lot, the movie does seem like an interesting concept.

Hancock

I really liked it personally. It kind of surprised me since the reviews where not good. I was expecting to walk away disappointed, but that wasn't the case. There were some "plot filler" things mainly involving the bad guys that weren't well thought out in my opinion, but the movie held my attention well.

I liked it better than some other movies I've seen in the past that got stellar reviews.

Iron Man, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Hancock have all been great in my book.

One dud I saw was Don't Mess with the Zohan. I generally like Adam Sandler movies but the Zohan flick was his worst yet.

take care,
Robbie

Let's just say I don't think there will be a sequel or a pre-quel. As you said, a good concept in a not so good movie. It will no doubt make money off of Will Smith's brand name.
