Yeah, if I "took the day off" I'd be cutting the deep grass in intense humidity.
Handling a smaller bunch of phone calls is pretty easy by comparison.

Thanks, Mud. I'd been planning for this for a while. If I had a family, for sure I'd have hung in for years to come, but my life didn't work out like that. To each his own, eh? Everyone has a story to tell...

BTW: The 56? My ancestors are from Finland, and the average retirement age for males there is around 57. Hah, I had to beat that, heck, we love fishing too much. lol

Cheers,

ek

I'm in it up to my eyeballs. There's no holidays in TV. Or grammer checking.

My Dad used to call painting mistakes "holidays" ... you just made a holiday.

I brought my children to my office today. I had a conference call in the morning and then I took the children to an aquarium/amusement park. We had a great day and I even got home with enough time to still play guitar and go jogging. I guess you can call that work if you want.

Faked it all day. Pretended to do stuff-held the phone to my ear like I was holding, sent off emails to who knows who. Just didn't care.

I built an exterior hot water heater enclosure, painted a bedroom, installed two light fixtures, and hard wired a door bell into a house...they make wireless doorbells, but these people like the tone of a real one, so I crawled through their attic fishing wires in the afternoon heat, literally sweating through my clothes, cough and itching from the insulation so that their doorbell will sound just perfect.
Also went to the home inspection for the house I'm in the process of buying. Could have gone better, but nothing scary enough to make me back out of the deal.

WHAT?!? You almost sound bitter.

I feel your pain, man - done that, though not for a living. Just once, when we had our house in Cat City. Probably had something to do with ants. Not quite my idea of fun.

Well I had no idea anyone would want to party down to commemorate our independence from England IN ENGLAND!
You'd be amazed (or maybe not) at the propensity here to get comprehensively bladdered for the slimmest reason, or indeed none at all.

Besides, the gig's at a London Irish venue, to which the above applies double!

I had the option of taking either today or tomorrow off, I opted for today. I rarely get holidays off and usually work Saturdays anyway. It's no big deal, I'll only have to work about three hours tomorrow.
