Covering Roy
This is for anyone who plays Roy Orbison's "Oh Pretty Woman."
Do you stick to the original timing througout the song, including the 3 count drum intro, or do you change it to 4/4 time all the way through? This has come up for debate in my band, and I thought I'd throw it out to the Tele crowd. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, have a listen to it and notice the 2/4 bars in various places. |

I've never thought about it, I've always just played it the way I thought the record was.

Straight 4's. I do everything like that, if there's any timing weirdness going on. That's just to prevent any potential trainwrecks on stage. I do that with "Mystery Train" as well. I keep it straight as a judge, so the band don't think "Uhh... what's he doing now?".
Believe me, I do enough OTHER weirdness to keep them thinking "What's he doing now?", and this is just a courtesy to them to make their job a little easier!

We always do it the funky (original) way ... it's fun if you got guys that are all on the same page, quite a bit scary if not.
