I think I'd rather have one with humbuckers. I used to really want one, then I bought a tele :) It looks a little strange with the 3 singles I think. I have yet to actually play one though....no Taylor dealers in my area have ever had any.

They're nice guitars but I just don't get very fired up when I'm around them. I've played several of them. Only the older farts will remember this......
![]() The Ovation Viper Solid Body cicra 1978....I was a freshman in high school and I had a Viper for about 4 months. I see the Taylor and I see my old Viper. I have Viper issues.

I really like my walnut top taylor electric with the minibuckers. The in between positions actually sound very stratty. Anyway - a great guitar.

The T-5 was a guitar that I wanted to like. But I couldn't appreciate the tones enough to fork out $2.5K. Then came the new solid body electrics from Taylor. I hope he does well with this line because he is a great guy and a great guitar builder. But for me, I just don't see the need to buy into mix match of other classic designs with a new brand. The T-5 was more innovative, although some pointed to some similarities to some older guitars.
I learned a valuable lesson on a couple of Schecter California Custom guitars. It don't matter how great they are or how rare, if people don't want them, then you are positioning yourself to loose a lot of money - been there, done that.

I do love my 214. I have never played a Taylor 214 that was a dud. Taylor does build remarkable guitars and I think that all the planets lined up when they built the humble 214. I've always been drawn to the tone on a 214 and one day I exited the freeway to stop for gas and to pop into a nice guitar store in Oshkosh WI....there was a perfect used 214 hanging all minty.
The 214 must have called to me from the freeway......I'm in here.....stop the car. The rest was history.
