The article deals with violins - acoustic instruments - and I guess most of it applies to acoustic guitars.

As for solid-bodied electric guitars - forgetaboutit ...

Boubou, how ya doin; I've seen quite a few fiddles made from AK birch and to my ears; they don't sound any better than Euro built fiddles. Did you get a chance to read Ron Kirn's take on old growth wood? I have some 200 year old chestnut and 100 year old redwood and certain sections of beams are super dry and have better ring or resonance. I think there's something to the resin/sap/ect; what drys out with time within the wood cell structure.

Read what RK had to say about force dynamics between strats & teles concerning neck/saddles/strings; good stuff. Got me looking closer to everything when I adjusting action ect.

Took the TRRI out village and played all my fiddle CD's; Harold Frost and all for one of the grandmothers who has cancer; she wanted to have a dance before she passed on. Got some picts if ya want to see them; people from moosehide, Ft Yukon, and here in eagle.

It's all about density differentials, eh? Sounds like it'd be a good idea to make acoustic instruments from composite materials...

...hmmmm.
