New Guitar Day: Eastwood Wandre

I picked this weirdo up locally today. Nice chambered mahogany body, 3 low output humbuckers, very good fit/finish. Probably more playable than its inspiration.

I see more Eastwood guitars in my future.

I think that the best luthier in Milwaukee is a guy named Wade Stark who has a Martin/Alvarez/Rickenbacker/Eastwood and vintage shop on the East Side. Wade raves about the owner of Eastwood guitars. He always says that the owner's attention to details is just uncanny.

I have been looking at an Eastwood P-90 Double Cutaway that Wade has new for $399 with a Levy's bag and Wade keeps telling me that he has disassembled the Eastwood P-90 pickups to compare them to old Gibsons that he has worked on. He has told me that the Eastwood P-90's are some of the best P-90's that he's worked with in years.

I've looked at 10-15 Eastwoods every time I'm in Wades Guitar Shop and the build and fit and finish is every bit as good as a PRS SE. They are really nice.

I've also noticed that used Eastwoods on ebay sell for 85 to 90% of what a new one costs. You cannot find a "deal" on a used Eastwood.

Congratulations on the great guitar.....Eastwood may be a company to watch.

This is the one that I'm drooling over........

my biggest regret on my recent trip up north was missing a chance to visit Wade's shop. Unfortunately he's closed on Sundays... maybe next time.

The build quality on this and most other Korean guitars I've played have been great. I think they are getting nicer and are nearing MIJ in terms of quality.

There's a shop near me that carries them. I've played the Tuxedo and I was impressed. I also like the Supro Twin-Tone and Coronado.

Cool Wandre. I wish they'd reissue this one:

I thought the Wandre would be similar to Buddy Miller's tone. It sounds like a tame strat but may be because the demo did not use any overdrive. I liked the blue guitar demo a lot.

it's a *bit* more strat-like when you have neck + middle or all 3 pickups going, but is a lot more versatile than what the video shows. They should do another video with something other than a flat/dry Fender amp sound...

Actually sounds really nice with a bit of dirt, but not as aggressive as the blue p-90 guitar's sound. These are low-output humbuckers, and with the chambered mahogany body it sounds great.

I have their Sidejack Deluxe (Mosrite inspired) and the construction is flawless.

My Eastwood Airline:

I swapped out the humbuckers for a set of Eastwood Valco repro singlecoils and they sound great. It's got a 5-way and I can get all kinds of tone out of it. Light. Well built. Easily my favorite guitar (ducks and prepares to get kicked off of TDPRI....)

These look amazing. The Wandre reminds me of a Burns.

P90 Special

Hey studio1087 - I bought one of these off eBay last fall for $230. I love it. I tried swapping out the pickups for GFS and ended up putting back the originals. They are quite hot. The only other thing I did was level and crown the frets. Plays great.
