fun, fun, fun
Great show. teledude66 and I, and our better halves, got there just as Woody and company were starting their first song. Great set and the Rainbow tele was sounding great.
Bill did a set, took about a 15 minute break to meet & greet and sell some cd's, and during his second set called Woody up to join them on two songs. Like a kid in a candy store. Woody and his bass player Tom joined them for the last song of the night and Bill broke out the trombone and he and the drummer with snare in hand walked through the crowd and serenaded everyone while he and Woody took turns soloing. And yes, Bill played the red tele all night. The Coalburner was there but never made it out of the case. And Bill said "hi" to everyone on the board. teledude66 got some good pictures. Can't wait to see them. |

When Bill was here last week, I asked him about the red Tele. He said, after several years of using Bardens, he kinda missed the sound of single coil pickups, so this one has Fralins on it. He also said that the neck was beefier and slightly wider than the Ol' Coalburner, and he went with rosewood just because he's always gone with maple and wanted a change.
Oh, and the builders, Big Tex Guitars, are known for their relic work. Bill told them he was pretty good at relicing, and would prefer to do it himself. He sure seemed to bond with the new Tele!!! Cheers, Tim

the funniest thing was, when i got there to load in, i banged on the backstage door and Bill opened it ... he said, "i know you from the Tele board!" we hit it off great, had supper together, and he said, "how about sitting in some second set?" of course i then went into a state of high anxiety ... i'm sure many of you can relate!
but it went really well, and everybody had a big time. Bill is one of the most gracious guys i've ever known, and Johnny and Claude were a hoot to hang out with too. teledude took some pix, hoping he'll post some!

I'm working on the pix now. Went to bed around 2 a.m. (John still had an hour drive after he left my house) then my mom an dad called me to go riding this morning, they just got HD's so I just got in. They'll be up in a few.

I saved the best for last, I figured with all the sex appeal in the last few posts ya'll couldn't handle the man fest in this last pic...wink...lol.
Me (teledude66) some guy who played after Woody...lol, and JLRich... ![]() Bill was awesome, took time to talk to people, sign autographs, and was one of the nicest guys you ever wanna meet, a true showman. Oh yeah he played some mean tele too. I wish I knew those were Fralins last night, I woulda loved to chat about them,I was a little star struck. Woody your too humble you did awesome last night, I thought that rainbow tele had a sweet tone. BTW what amp were you playing through?

Sounds like a fun time. Wish I could have been there. Bill's a great guy and an amazing player. Congrats on getting to sit in Woodman! I remember when Bill and Andy Stein would pull out their horns to become the Ozone Brass back in the Commander Cody days. (that was back when the Coalburner looked new!)
Come back to Colorado, Bill! Come play the Swing Station in Laporte!

that was the tweed Deluxe -- a little underpowered for a big-stage gig, ended up wishing i'd brought the Pro. but all's well that ends well!
GREAT pix, teledude!

Excellent Woodman. That would be a dream gig for me. I've never seen Bill play live, or yourself for that matter. Enjoy yourself and hopefully someone will video the event!!

Hey woodman, that's great!
Bill is a friend of some good friends of mine. I haven't met him in person yet, but his brother hangs out with my friends quite often. When Bill is in town he'll drop by. They always said he's a really nice guy. Thanks for the photos - that looks GREAT! I wish I coulda been there!

Teledude, thanks for posting those pics! Looks like it was an awesome gig for sure. And once again, congrats to the Woodman for snagging a prime opening spot. Definitely one for your resume; you know, for whenever you decide to grow up and get a respectable career
Big thumbs up, wish I wasn't three states away... |

Very exciting, Wood man!
Glad the anxiety did not get the best of ye! That'll have you feeling mighty righteous for a good while, wohoo!
