Who has Tattoos??

We spent a beautiful afternoon out at a friends house on one of the local lakes. Volleyball, hotdogs, and good conversation.
I found out something about a friends wife. She has a Tattoo on her wrist that says Ozzy. She says she put it on her wrist when she was 14, she is approaching 30. It floored me because I never even thought of her as the tattoo type.
So it got me to wondering.....
Do any of you have tattoos? I personally never got one, though I can see the attraction.

I have several..On my left forearm A rose wrapped in a tribal design, with thorns going through it..represents a good friend that passed. ... A Dark Star on my Left wrist, reminder of my time touring with the Dead. An abstract Tribal design of 5 interlocking patterns representing the 5 Confederated Iroquoian Tribes. Dead Kennedys symbol on my right ankle..just above boot level. I want more...Im a music major, and would love to get maybe a bass and treble clef.. I could be real weird and have the old C clef. Im Irish/German and Native American ..so Im also looking into some Celtic designs..They have to represent a personal thing for me before I do it. I wont just walk in and have some wall flash put on me..Ive drawn all of mine personally, and actually did one myself which turned out great.

Yup. I have a design of a Raven from a Haida Drumskin on my right shoulder. I got it when my best friend Jake died about ten years ago. He was a great drummer - hence the choice of design from a tribal drum.

I have a couple of vintage designs. I have a custom gargoyle on my right bicep (drawn by an artist friend) and an old Sailor Jerry-style heart with my daughter's name on the inside of my left forearm.

I think the idea of a "tattoo type" person has really become a gray area . . . at least in my neck of the woods.

My wife had a tattoo of Nicole Kidman on her left boob.

Trouble is, now she's getting older it's turned into Celine Dion

I have a peace sign on my left arm. I was two months into being 18, out with two girls in Deep Ellum (Dallas clubs/tattoo parlors), we all thought it would be funny to get them together.

It's not a great work of art by any means, but I'm still quite fond of it. It reminds me of where I was then, who I was and my friends (one of whom is still my closest friend).

I've considered others over the years - Paul Simonon smashing his bass from the cover of London Calling, various designs in the American traditional tattoo style, small phrases. But I keep holding off as I see my grandfather almost every day and I wouldn't want to surprise him with new ink all over my arms.

I haven't had any work done in almost 20 years, and hardly ever show any of 'em, but here is my upper right arm.

I have two top sleeves featuring Geisha girls, one's a scene with mountains and the sun, and the other is a montage with flowers and water and a firey orange sky. I should get some pics uploaded sometime.

On my upper arm just below the shoulder, I have a colorful, ol' school Wurlitzer juke box with quarter notes floating around it-- I liked it when I first got it and I still like it now. Most folks don't even know it I have one unless, like today, I'm wearing a sleeveless shirt.

So far, this thread is more positive than the last tattoo thread in which most folks seemed to think only low lifes and tramps had tattoos. But, now that i think about it, I am a tramp-- it's great life.

I actually almost became a tattoo artist when I got out of the service... I often wonder how different my life would have been!

I currently have 9 pieces, but want to work on 3/4 sleeves. They're all dragons.

I'm not really into ink, but I do have a lightning bolt on one shoulder and on my left shoulder a Chinese design with the interlocked symbols for long life and happiness. Got 'em at different times in my life and I still like them and the memories they represent.

I have a tattoo, but I don't think it's smart (or legal) to mention it here.

Are you sure?
I always had this terrible suspicion that those flash posters are wrong and if I tried to get the symbol for "equanimity", I'd really get the one for "bed-wetter" or something.
I guess it stems from that Monty Python skit about the bogus travel/translation dictionaries.
