i went last night and tonight. Mind you, I hate GC, and they're sales are usually the junk. My local GC is in Carle Place, NY.
So, I go in and grab one of the flyers off the counter. Now according to the email that went out, if you go after 9pm they'll give you "the list" which supposedly has a preview of the 4th of july sales and you can buy those items at the discounted price also. I asked the girl at the door about it.... she was nice but had no idea about it. I asked a salesman at the parts counter and he was clueless. " they wouldn't put out the prices this early."
So I gave up on that and saw that they were having better than usual sales for their midnight madness sale. Also, not many people in the store at all. Anyway, I saw that they were giving 12% off on Gibsons. (not Epiphones, though) and that wasn;t the list price baloney, that was off their sellling price. I sat for a while playing an ES-339, the new smaller semi hollow. I was really surprised. I didn't think the tone would be that good, but it is very good. Then I fooled around with an ES-335 and remembered why I wanted one so bad. I finally bought a 10 pack of D'Addarios for $35 and left.
I told my wife about it and the next night she "made me" go back with her and I bought the ES-335. My guitar collection is now complete. (approaching 30 guitars is enough) It was like 330 or so dollars off. So for a change I walked out of GC happy. Also for a change, they had a good staff in the store. They must have given all the morons off.
So sorry this was so long , but that was my midnight madness nights. Oh and again, both nights, the store was really pretty dead. Still couldn't get them to go lower than the 12% off, either.
