Wow - I always thought Rock n Roll was American. Clearly it's actually more British! A large majority of the recurring bands mentioned seem to be Brits.

I would have never thought.

1. Chuck Berry isn't a band.
2. Eddy Cochran isn't a band
3. Elvis isn't a band.
4. Dylan isn't a band.

So, top 10 bands?
1. The E Street Band
2. The Who
3. The Rolling Stones
4. TP and the Heartbreakers
5. Buddy and the Crickets
6. The Kinks
7. Sly and the Family Stone*
8. U2
9. The Beatles
10. Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes

with a nod to runners up including Cream, Derek and the Dominos, ACDC, the Police, Clash, Ramones, Silver Bullet, Zep, and Harry the Filter (for nominating the Captain and Tennile! )

* OK, OK, so it's not rock but they've GOT to count!

I don't get it either. Wilco should be huge....really huge. Then again, I still don't get why Neutral Milk Hotel, Built to Spill, and Guided by Voices aren't legendary.
They were the coolest band on the planet, then they decided to add Nels Cline. That's like Jordan going to the Showtime Lakers. I've always been surprised that the folks on the TDPRI aren't really talking about them.

Replacements
Stones
Kinks
Who
Beatles
Clash
Jam
Cheap Trick
Springsteen & The E Street Band
The Band

Personally, I think Wilco was a substantially better band prior to the Nels & Glen era. They're still very good, but nothing near what I'd consider at their best. Different strokes, I guess.

Good call. I also thought Queen would be mentioned more.

No particular order:
Stones
Beatles
Who
CCR
Aerosmith
Springsteen and the E Street Band
The Band
Led Zeppelin
The Guess Who
Doobie Brothers
