Try Wal*Mart if you have one near you for the Krylon. I have 2 in reasonable driving distance that I visit every 5-6 days and snag 6-8 cans of the old formula. So far, they've restocked some of the old formula every time I go as I find colors I didn't see before but, I know that won't go on much longer.
Don't know about the Rustoleum, I'm pretty sure it's enamel (= not good with lacquer top coat) though. |

If you go to the Rustoleum site, I'm sure they have something like the Krylon.
In the past people used to think metal when they heard Rustoleum, but that isn't the case any more. They sell formulas for everything. Heck, they even have something for refinishing bathtubs and sinks which might work for a guitar. Don't know what that would do soundwise, but it would be hard and tough as a rock. |

My local home stores ....... Lowes and Home Depot have never caried Krylon. Walmart alway has a varied seletion of Krylon colors. Ace hardware also carries Krylon.
I painted a guitar with Rust-O-Leum once. I gave it extra drying time before clear-coating with Deft. It worked out fine. |

That's the thing--it's EVERY type of paint imaginable. Rustoleum is just the brand name. In the old days (like the 60s), people bought "Rustoleum" just to paint rusty fences, bicycles, anything metal. But since then, they were either acquired by someone...or THEY acquired someone...and now Rustoleum is only the brand name, and they sell everything. I guess they figured that since the name Rustoleum was so well-known, they would use that as the main brand name. But older folks who've been around awhile STILL think of metal when they think of the name, which is just plain wrong. Look at their product list at the right of this page: http://www.rustoleum.com/brand.asp?f...4&SBL=5&slid=1 |

that really went off topic.
as great as it is that rustoleum is no longer just for metal, i want to know if anyone thinks its unsuitable for a guitar body. im just using their multipurpose satin finish. would it do best with a clear coat of their brand, or of DEFT?
