Question for people from other countries that visit the US.

That is sooooo true !!, but the only other people who don't realise the fact is Americans themselves.

I was used to tiny little old England before my first trip and just seeing DFW was pretty mindblowing - an airport bigger than my town ?, whoa !!
Thing is, Americans are used to how large it all is but will never really put that into context until they come to somewhere like the UK and see the size of this place or some of the other European countries.

I often played in a hotel in Zurich, Switzerland and we would finish by driving through Switzerland, Germany and Belgium, cross the channel on a Ferry and back to the UK all in one non-stop trip. 4 countries sounds a lot but it wasn't so bad and quite possible when you are young and stupid.

getbent, thanks, that little road trip is what i'm talking about, Scotland has a can of gas for his lawnmower we can bring so could we use that in a shiny Buick Riviera ?

Last summer, my family went to Disney in Orlando. Well, there was a shuttle launch that week, so I drove down to Titusville by myself and spent the day on a park bench next to the river across from Kennedy Space Center. Shortly after I claimed my spot for the launch, a family from the UK came & sat next to me (husband/wife/1 child). I had a great time talking to them for the hours prior to the launch. They were there for Disney & Kennedy Space Center. The thing they really liked about the US was shopping and the prices of electronics. I was suprised by that...you know, we do get kinda locked into our own little worlds & take things for granted sometimes and that family from the UK reminded me of that. I had an enlightening conversation that day & I hope they would say the same.

I like going to New York, LA, San Fran, Miami, Chicago, Philly - for a bunch of different reasons.

My favourite has to be San Fran.

That made me laugh. I'm in Maryland so I'm certainly familier with all those places. What are your reasons?

Ive just returned from a family holiday in New England


We started in Boston and travelled counterclockwise through Maine, New Hampshire , Vermont, Conneticut and Rhode Island.

We had only been to California , but I like everywhere we have visited

Thanks to the exchange rate I got a great deal on a jazzmaster,which helps!

Quebeckers love Florida. Myrtle Beach too. No brainer really, sun and sand in the winter, closer than the west coast.

For summer road trips a tour of New England is nice.

I think a lot of Europeans want to see:

-a cowboy
-an Indian
-a big city like New York or Chicago with mega skyscrapers
-landscape and big open spaces like the Grand Canyon


My favourite part of the US is the Southwest. I'd love to retire in New Mexico. I love every bit of California, from Death Valley to Frisco and San Diego with everything in between.

Yes, our National Parks are unparalleled for their immense beauty.

I would think coming from a small country with out much forested land, a huge forested and mountainous park would be something to see, and we've got a bunch of 'em.

I know when my parents went to Asheville, NC last year there were a bunch of Germans, some Swedish, and some Asian guests staying there too. Asheville is surrounded by an amazingly beautiful landscape, watch "Last of the Mohicans" to get an idea.
