My new White Gretsch 5120
So, I've always wanted a Gretsch and soon I will have one.
It's one of a limited run of 5120s in White. I plan to play it stock for a while but I know one of the most popular mods for the 51s is to swap the pickups. I can't wait for it to get here. ![]() ![]() BTW, I am going to sell my parts-caster parts so look for them in the classifieds |

Thanks man...i got it on the ebay from funkymonkymusic.
It is apparently one of a short run in White made exclusively for them. Not quite a White Falcon (GetBent's ears just caught fire) but perhaps inspired by it without the gold. I'm kidding, I'm sure there a ton of differences between the two. But...I'll never be able to buy a Falcon but I will have this baby. When it comes I will try to take better pictures of it. That is super sweet. The only place I knew of where these are available is Australia and shipping, not to mention Australian prices, are prohibitive.
Again, what a super guitar--I love my 5120, although mine is orange. Congratulations, Cassady |

Beautiful!
Many people did the stick pickups. They're not bad. Personaly, I wanted the tradtional Gretsch sound so I new I'd wouldn't sleep until I had TV's in there. But if your not in a hurry, give the stock ones a chance. But DO buy yourself a 1" bigsby spring and swap out the 7/8'' stock one. Its the single best $7 you can spend. It'll make the bigsby feel right. Enjoy! |

If you haven't joined then I hope you get in on the early action there. Gretsch-Talk.com |

Hooee, what a sweet lookin' axe! I know it's got some killer tones. Had a '58 or '59 Chet Atkins sig a long time back, but could never get it to stay in tune. It lived in a garage for about 3 yrs before I bought it. But boy, oh boy, did it sound fantastic. Great score there, twang. You're gonna be happy when she shows up!

Thanks y'all. Since I bought it I find myself staring at the pictures for hours at a time...kidding (sorta). Quote:
For $7 I will give the 1" spring a try. Thanks for the tip. Quote:
Although I haven't posted over at GretschTalk yet, I actually registered over there before I even bought this one. My subconscious must've known something. Axis29 Thanks for the offer, I'll get in touch with you soon. . |

The bigsby B60 on the 5120 has a white nylong washer under the bigsby spring. When I traded up to the 1" spring, I also took out the washer. This kept the arm from pointing up too high, and the proper spring gave a better feel. Some people like to keep the washer in as well as the 1" spring. Try it both ways...
