Missing amp

Well I risked the old girl's wrath and ordered a bass amp, Fender Rumble 115 and because I live 1800 km away had to pay upfront B4 they would ship which is reasonable.
Come Thursday I was champing at the bit and the amp didn't arrive so I got on the phone and asked when it left Perth.
"Uh there is a slight problem " I'm told, "we sold it to someone else and have ordered a new on from Fender Australia".
Now I realise that in a massive sale (which they were having) that mistakes can happen, but what really agro's me is they failed to communicate, communication solves a lot of problems. I will be calling the manager tomorrow to suggest he improves his staff communication lines.

That sucks.

Many years ago, while in high school, and right after, I worked for a small mom and pop music shop. They did stuff like this, and it drove me nuts.

If somebody came in and asked for something, they'd sell it to them on the spot. Didn't matter if somebody else had a deposit on it, and it was in layaway. the owner's philosophy was "money now is always better than money later, we'll order them another one". Drove me insane. To my way of thinking, once you've paid for something, even a decent deposit, it just ain't cool for the store to sell it to somebody else. And if in fact it WAS a mistake, you're right, they certainly should have called you immediately when it was discovered. My guess is one of the sales guys knew it was due to ship, and just didn't care.

I called the manager today and said that I wasn't happy about the lack of communication, he apologised. Then this afternoon I had 2 calls to tell me it had arrived and they are sending it tomorrow.

if it arrived that quickly, my guess is they were going to try and get the new one in and ship it to you none the wiser.
