Seeing Gary Hoey tonight!

My 14 year old son are I are going to see Gary Hoey tonight!

My son really wanted to meet him. He said to come by during the sound check, but but we have his 8th grade graduation party today, so that was not going to do.

I later found out it is an all ages show, so I wrote Gary and asked him what time he would be on. For health reasons, I can't make it the whole night. He wrote back and said since he is the headliner, he would be going on last at about 11:00 - 11:30 and said he would put us on the guest list!!!

Gary is a really nice guy, he has been very good to me as a fan over the years!

I'll try to shoot some photos, but in that low light situation, I'm not sure how many will come out, if at all.

I did not get very many good photos, but it was a great show!
Gary gave my son a pick, a t-shirt and a signed photo, and he signed my Fender hat and my Gary Hoey CD.

Isn't he the guy who used to stand in the water with his guitar in Guitar Player magazine ads?

He did the Endless Summer 2 soundtrack with Dick Dale...I'm not really a fan but he does have a cool website with some blues licks lessons.

Oh man, he loved it!

My kid and his friends are in awe of me when I play because I can shred pretty well. I told my son, now THAT is playing fast, but not only fast, but clean too.
That's what I like about his playing. very little tapping, but he can do 1 to 1 picking (a string pick per finger position) super fast and super clean. I cheat a lot with lots of hammer-ons and pulls, but he can pick every note.

and I also told him "now you know what loud is really like!"

Gary Hoey is one of the nicest , down to earth people in the business . Every time I've worked with him , him and his band have been great to everyone . Great photo of your son with him , he'll appreciate that photo for years to come. I think Peavey was working on a Gary Hoey sig. guitar or amp a while back , did he mention that ?...

He puts so much energy into his shows, and he can keep doing it for a couple of hours. I'd burn out after the first song.

Yes, he is really a nice guy. He really went out of his way to make my kid feel comfortable, and has been really good to me.

My kid is still in a daze. We had his 8th grade graduation party, then he gets to see Gary and meet him. And it really blew my kid away that Gary knows who I am.

I saw Gary perform at one fo the guitar shows in Dallas. He was fun to watch. Met him after the show and got an autograph. He seemed like a nice guy.

Gary is a real nice guy. But, if anybody else is going to see him in the future. Please don't forget your ear plugs. He plays very LOUD! One of the loudest shows I've ever seen.
