What happened to Larry Collins?
Here's a clip of Joe Maphis and Larry Collins. Just wondering why I never heard of Larry before seeing this. Have I been living under a rock, or did his career not progress?

He became a record producer and songwriter, writing "Delta Dawn" and "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma". He and Lorrie have played some shows in the last decade, too...
Here's the Wikipedia entry on the Collins Kids... Cheers, Tim

The David & Shelly "You're the reason..." record came out during the time I was working as an announcer on "Country" radio... They sounded great together and I loved playing that record...

larry became a staff writer sometime producer and attorney... he also was a session player for quite some time and he had a part in the clint eastwood movie every which way but loose! after their career peaked they worked the reno/tahoe/vegas circuit for several years...
they did their first gig as the collins kids again at a rockabilly / 50s RnR event in england in the early 90s... they were great! nothing was lost without their teen voices and i'm not easily impressed... the dave and deke combo backed them and it was great... every time i've seen them since they rocked... the can still deliver the goods and both look and sound great... very sweet people too... tj |

Somebody needs to take the sugar out of that kids diet. I have the funny feeling someone is overdosing this kids oatmeal with mega, mega vitamins.

The Collins Kids tore it up at Deke's Guitar Geek Festival last January- Larry still brangs it big time, very high energy show.
And he had to borrow my twin reverb!

I agree that little kid could move. Wonder how old Larry was in those clips 11-13 couldnt be much older than that.
