Saw Iron Maiden last night
I just wanted to inform you that there were NO Tele's anywhere to be seen. But...Adrian smith did use an SG for a couple of tunes "Awesome".
It was definitely one of the best SHOWS I have ever seen. They had more stage props & scene changes than OKLAHOMA on Broadway. They even turned the entire overhead light Rigging into a BOAT for "RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER" and rocked it back and forth for 5 min. Eddie came out as a Space Alien (15' tall) and chased the band around stage. It was the best sounding drums I have ever heard at a Rock concert. The bass sounded great too. Guitars sounded kinda small (but there was 3 of em'). And Bruce sang GREAT! Can't believe he can still do it after all these years. I was seriously annoyed that they didn't do any new songs from the last 3 albums (Technically the last 6 albums?). It was nice to get a greatest hits tour but I wanted some stuff off the NEW album. It was also the most Violent concert I've ever been to. People were dragged out by security every 3min. We were surrounded by drunk morons and smelly street people. I think they went around Vancouver and gave free tickets to every pathetic street person they could find. Next time I'll just wait & buy the DVD.

Arrrrrrgh!!! I want to see them so bad I can't stand it! I haven't seen them since the Somewhere on Tour show. The closest they're coming to me is Baltimore and I think all the good seats are sold out!
I've been a Maiden fan since before Bruce joined the band. Dave and Adrian are one of the best guitar duo's in the business and I really wanted to see how well Gers fit in live. I guess I'll have to get a DVD, it won't be the same though.

Sigh. I guess I'll have to be satisfied with this.
I'm glad Maiden survived the 80's and finally is getting the respect it deserves, as a pioneering NWOBHM band. Today, Bruce Dickinson goes running (full tilt) every day, while singing the entire set list (again, full tilt) to build up his lungs. Now that's dedication to your craft.

I remember when I saw them on Ozzfest a few years back they were only doing songs from the first 3-4 albums, which would mean DiAnno stuff. They'll usually at least do Running Free, Iron Maiden, and a couple others from the DiAnno-era.
I think its great how they kept all 3 guitarists, and Adrian Smith and Dave Murray don't seem to have problems with Jannick Gers playing some of their parts on the various songs.

Maiden
The only Paul D. song they did was "Iron Maiden". They didn't even do "Running Free" or "Wraithchild".
They did half the Powerslave/Number of the Beast albums. They played "Fear of the Dark" and "Revelations". That was awesome. They didn't do "Dance of the Dead"(my favourite Maiden tune I don't think there's a singer in the World that can keep up with Bruce Dickinson. He ran & jumped & climbed the entire concert. It didn't once affect his vocals. He's pretty funny too. During one song he stood & staired at 2 people fighting in the crowd for half the song. Then he gave them a big lecture. All 3 guitarists were great. Jannick dances like a Hair metal poseur the whole concert (occasionally he has some very cool moves

Do yourself a HUGE favor and get yourself a copy of "Number of the beast" and hear why Paul Di'ano himself proclaims that getting Dickinson was the right decision for the band. "Run to the hills" Then you'll have to take a good listen to the album which folowed that one "Piece of mind" and hear the human tsunami that is Nicko Mc Brain on drums. "Where eagles dare" Yaneck Gers came into the band during the recording of the "Seventh son of the seventh son" album when Adrian Smith called it quits and he has been there ever since. "Fear of the dark" And yes, Steve Harris is still there. "Mission from 'Arry" An off stage argument between Steve Harris " 'Arry" and Nicko Mc Brain "Nick" that was recorded by Bruce Dickinson who found it incredibly hillarious. Some adult language in this one.

Harris?
Yes Steve Harris is Definitely the band. (His bass sounded incredible as always).
Imagine if Cliff Burton never died (from Metallica). They would still be a great band too.

I saw the Fear of the Dark and Brave New World tours in Qc city. Fear of the dark was the best show I've ever seen.
I grew up with Maiden and still lov'em to death. Adrian Smith, to me, is the most underrated guitar player of heavy metal. The guys are cool look like they're having a great time + 3 guitars makes for a wall of sound and makes for a better live rendering of their songs who always featured 3-4 guitar tracks anyways + they've got nothing to prove + Bruce is the man. Harris is certainly the soul of Maiden, but I can't imagine Maiden without the others. When Smith left, it wasn't the same to me. I was glad he came back.
