Anyone interested in starting a band in Atlanta?

I'm looking to start a Country cover band to make some extra $$ in the Atlanta area and maybe further if opportunities arise.
Looking for guys in their 20's or 30's or early 40's I'm a vocalist and Tele player and I can share leads(I'd love someone way better than me to join),so I need a lead player,drummer,and bassist if you know anyone,and we can add instrumentalists as needed.
Just throwing it out there I know there's limited Atlanta guys here but if you're into it let me know!

it's been a good while since i was in Atlanta, but then, it was a tough town for gigs. have things opened up? what's your plan?

There have always been plenty of places to play in and around Atlanta, it's just that the bench is deep (lot's of talent). The guys I play with stay busy.

yep, that's the exact problem we had -- couldn't get a foot in the door due to so many established acts. eventually, some of the guys got discouraged and wandered off. great music town, best of luck to the OP with your effort!

Well,my plans are to make extra money.I have an indie deal with my rock band Asphalt Valentine,BUT INDIE means I don't have to have a day job,but no real money untill the record comes out AND SELLS,so I'm looking to play some Country in bars and even resturants for CASH when I'm not playing with my band.(I just play guitar in the band but I'm really a MUCH better vocalist with a wide range of tastes in GOOD music).
So I'm looking at about 60 songs(covers)of cool stuff for three or four sets a couple nights a week to bring in some steady and good money to pull ends together and obviously buy more gear,and have a really good time entertaining people and hanging out with friends.
I could even be really into a duo situation just me and somebody with two guitars,and them being able to sing well would be great too.
Anyway,that's the deal.

If you're looking for a cash cow within the standard bar circuit, definitely pursue the duo thing over the band thing. There's way more venues that can house a duo than there are that can handle a full band anymore. Strictly in terms of potential revenue, everything about it makes more sense. Quicker 'in and out', less overhead, minimal gear to futz with, fewer personalities to deal with. Your wages will be higher, and if you utilize a tip jar (in a bar, there's absolutely no reason not to!), the proceeds are split between two people instead of more than two.

I've no idea if it would fit your schedule with your other project, but you might also consider taking a look at some of the house bands at more upscale clubs within the area. Cowboys in Kennesaw and Wild Bill's in Duluth immediately come to mind. You'd definitely need to be an excellent vocalist and a dynamic frontman to land these gigs. Not a ton of schedule flexibility here (it's a "job"), but as I understand it, the weekly salaries are quite attractive. I hear about openings at both venues from time to time.
