Dumpster diving and Idol sighting

It was an interesting weekend around here. Our homeowners' association doesn't really do anything, other than have a once-a-year dumpster weekend so you can get rid of crap without paying a premium to the legitimate trashmen. So, in the spirit of get-it-gone, my son and I loaded up a wasted chair and headed out. We're just getting ready to load it into the dumpster when I spotted a foot-high stack of LPs. I left a bunch of tripe for the next bloodhound, but here's my take.

Pink Floyd "Dark Side Of The Moon," complete with its two original posters and a sticker sheet; lots of pops and crackles, but it was free

Thin Lizzy "Fighting" and "Johnny The Fox," both still in cellophane and very clean

Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band "Night Moves," similar condition to "Dark Side"

"Frampton Comes Alive," a bit cleaner than "Dark Side," but far from perfect

"Heavy Metal," a WB "Superstars of the 70s" compilation; oddities include contributions by Buffalo Springfield, Delaney & Bonnie, The Eagles, Van Morrison and Dr. John

My wife and daughter went to the AT&T store today and ran into David Cook. He was trying to keep it on the down-low, complete with a baseball cap and a fresh shave. Since he's from about five miles away, it was quite a trip for my 13 year-old daughter. They left him alone, but I would probably have congratulated him and asked him about the Luna Les Paul copy he was given.

Anyway, it was an atypically exciting weekend around here. I need a valium.

Clean those records before you play them again. A drop of Dawn and some lukewarm water, and a soft toothbrush with very light pressure. Keep the labels dry. Some of those pops will come away.

Thanks for the tip. I know the Discwasher treatment helped some, but they still have a grungy look to them.

More than likely he had to get a new number. People that he hasn't seen in years are probably "jumping on the wagon"!
