Best way to sell my PRS
This is not a "for sale" post, however I'm considering selling a PRS I've had for 20 years but I just don't play it much anymore. I think its a bit of a collectible (pre-factory years - hand signed, etc...). Probably worth a few grand. The only issue is I bought it like new from a friend back in the '80's and I don't have a case or any documentation for it - and its gotten a bit used during the years (probably in VG condition).
My options are 1) sell on e-bay 2) sell on a PRS or similar kind of forum or 3) there is a local vintage guitar dealer that thinks he can sell it for me if priced right but he takes a 20% commission. Any thoughts? |

I've sold two PRS guitars on ebay and I got more than I was hoping for on each. Take some good photos. Write about how you cared for the guitar (cleaner, polish, string changes).
An SE is a far cry from a real PRS but I sold this one in two hours for the buy-it-now price. I should have had a higher buy-it-now. Ebay is good.

Craigslist
I've bought and sold the following on Craigslist in the past 6-7 months:
Gibson Les Paul (sold) Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Head (sold for nearly as much as I bought it new!) Fuji Mountain Bike (sold) 1993 Mazda Miata (bought and sold within 3 months) 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300E (bought) Very recent K2 cruiser bike (bought TODAY!, $80 cash [$300 bike new]) In the past, I've bought and sold lots of guitars and amps. I'm done with eBay. Craigslist has no listing fees, and don't have to deal with any dead-beat bidders. CASH, no BS. It's been great for me. -Eric

Just make sure you include "mojo" in the sale....I am telling ya,people can't get enough mojo.
Hold firm on a reasonable price....don't know exactly what ya got....but any pre-factory is very desirable...if you could hold on to it until Paul opts out or retires...it'll be worth huge money. |

put a price on your guitar and an also open to trades clause ..you can sit back and see what's offered...you might just get a brand new motor home or Elvis Presley's pajamas... |

You might check in the PRS Forums. There's a For Sale section for posting ads.
http://www.prsforums.com/forums/ You'll need to be approved before posting. (takes a day) Craigslist works. So does Ebay. Don't sell it though a local shop or consignment. You'll get screwed.
